Long time, no see, Alucard
I am summoning good will for S4
The heroes are all tuckered out and in need of a nap
Hi back at it again with Alu angst LOL
Golden vampire once again, I’m so in love with Alucard aaah
I did a poll on twitter for which will be my next fanart and Alucard won! (I won’t complain haha)
Alucard is gorgeous!
Quick drawing of wolfy Alucard getting some positive love and support because he did not deserve any of the shit that happened to him this season
Some today’s warm up doodles
Teenage-vampire angst jokes aside, Alucard’s quiet pining for Sypha is tragic. Sypha was the first person in ages to believe in him. She calls him the savior in the catacombs and puts her faith in him. And in turn Alucard is always on his best behavior with her.
But regardless of how much Sypha cares for Alucard, Sypha falls in love with Trevor.
Alucard’s crush on Sypha is one-sided. Proof of his feelings for her is written all over and into season 2 and actually serves the plot significantly.
Not only does Alucard go out of his way to take an interest in everything Sypha does and compliment her whenever he can…
…he also displays telltale signs of jealousy throughout season 2.
While there’s certainly no denying Alucard’s distain for Trevor stems from his “vampire extinction museum”, it’s clear that Trevor and Sypha’s “night together”, left him bothered. The next morning, he tries even harder to get her to pull away from Trevor and pay attention to him.
Still, Sypha expresses her amazement with the Belmont family library and continues to defend Trevor.
Even after Sypha ignores his pointed warning the first time, he tries again to make his case. Why he would be a better companion, as it were. And how getting close to Trevor will only end badly…
Sypha realizes that Alucard’s misplaced anger isn’t about Trevor himself. What she fails to realize, and perhaps even what Alucard fails to realize, is that his anger is actually jealousy.
In a Freudian sense, all men “marry their mothers”. Alucard only has his parents to base his idea of romantic love off of. Lisa is very much like Sypha. Selfless, scholarly, generous towards mankind. So what did Dracula bond with Lisa over?
Knowledge. And Alucard does this with Sypha constantly.
Similarly to Lisa banging on the door of Dracula’s castle and demanding to be taught science & medicine, Sypha stops at nothing to seek the Sleeping Solider who will save mankind.
Alucard’s parents were both intellectuals. It makes perfect sense that Alucard is attracted to wit and intelligence. Sypha reminds him of his mother.
Alucard thought he could find love with Sypha similarly to how his parents found love.
But he didn’t count on Trevor Belmont.
Regardless of being intellectually matched, regardless of their rapport and banter, regardless of Sypha’s compassion for Alucard… Sypha fell in love with Trevor. Falling in love can often times be the LEAST intellectual thing in the world, but for Sypha and Trevor, it came naturally. Without going on too much of a tangent on why Sypha fell in love with Trevor and not with Alucard…
Trevor is warm…
And Alucard is cold.
Sypha loves Alucard. She admires him and wants him to find happiness. But she sees him as a friend. The romantic love Alucard hoped to find with Sypha failed to take root.
Alucard is not bitter about this conclusion. It’s clear to him that Trevor makes Sypha happy in a way he cannot. And he wishes her the best with him.
But the question remains…
When will Alucard find happiness himself?
