i’m super psyched to share my work on PO8’s latest physical vinyl, <THE GUILT OF A BUTTERFLY>! i will use english to explain some of my process since my chinese is too rudimentary. ༼ ༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ༽ while brainstorming for the design, i became intrigued by the idea of rorschach tests. i dug up my old chinese calligraphy ink and brushes and began steadily painting numerous halves of butterflies on regular printer paper. when i folded the sheets to imprint a mirrored image, i found ink didn’t always transfer thoroughly. but that imperfect quality ended up working really well for the album’s concept and vibe. while listening to the entire tracklist, i spent a while partnering each song with a butterfly i felt suited it (but i won’t go into my idiosyncratic reasoning for each pair lol). after tildawn entertainment saw the initial drafts, they felt it would be a shame to constrain the butterflies within a stapled lyric booklet. so instead, every track’s lyric spread will be included as a folded insert～ it’s so cool! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و please hang up the butterfly of your favorite track on the wall if you’d like, haha! and the pocket cover is, of course, inspired by butterfly taxidermy displays. i hope PO8 fans will enjoy the design, thank you!!
