Hey everyone, it’s been awhile but I figured quarantine was the perfect time to get back on platforms I’d neglected. Here’s a little two point turn of an Elf Lady I’ve been working on for a D&D campaign. Let me know what you think and if you have your own D&D character you’d like some art of I currently have nothing but free time for commissions so shoot me a message. also follow me on insta @devonnellclark if you want to see what I’ve been up to.

Unfortunately due to a variety of factors I wasn’t really able to see Dune (2021) until its theatre

Unfortunately due to a variety of factors I wasn’t really able to see Dune (2021) until its theatre run was almost over but I have to say I really appreciated both the design of the stillsuits, how those designs are consist across genders of the wearers and the relatively increased presence of female characters compared to the 1984 film of the same name. My wife particularly enjoyed getting to see a mother be a badass.

The suits, while covered with many probably unnecessary details and doodads, still convey their utilitarian purpose of giving you a chance to survive on a harsh desert planet.

It’s particularly good since anyone familiar with the books knows two things about the meta of the Dune series:

  1. Frank Hubert was extremely passionate about the utilitarian nature of stillsuits and looked for literally every opportunity to bring it up in the text.
  2. After Frank passed away and his estates took over, the series descended into unmitigated horniness that barely relates to Frank’s work.

So I’m glad they didn’t use the later books as an excuse to let a creepy marketing guy go wild.

Enli Armor Designing

by woah10spac - 12/17/21

One of my sketches as I’m trying to finalize what I want Enli’s armor to look like. I still haven’t settled on the pauldrons because they are the part of an armor set that I feel like really conveys a character’s personality and I want them to be perfect!

Rhëa’s armor references! ✨⚔️

She rides a Wyvern that is why her dress is attachable or removable. She wields a sword named “Relirwen” she helped forge when she first started fighting. Her shield bears the divine Emblem of Figëafee.

Erra’s rad Mesopotamian blood armor vs Kate’s… less impressive version ✨

I’m reading Blood Heir right now and decided I had to draw Erra before trying to figure out Julie’s new face :p

#5 got the most votes! So I designed some outfits for her. I am still coming up with a good juicy backstory. But she is a jedi during the old republic era!

Still need to catch up with the latest update, but I finally got together a design for my Commander, my MC from The Exile.

Here she is, Blythe Azrael, 7 ft tall goddess (WIP)

To check out additional looks/closeups and what aesthetic I latched onto, as well as her hairstyles, consider going beyond the readmore!

Given the reflective mirror thing going on in the armour description I chose, I immediately latched onto Slavic Medieval armour.

The multiple plate/scale type layers of their armour seemed perfect.

I also thought that kinda style would work well with the deer helmet and wings attributed to my character.

Wings I have yet to design, but will work on asap.

Here’s some more looks at the armour and helmet design, super rough sketches (especially for the chainmail) that I will neaten up to ink in the final piece.

Fun fact, that 7ft tall is without her horns. With them and armour/boots, she’s pushing 7"5.

Take a look first at her creepy battle smile:

Here’s a closeup of the deer helmet and the attached chainmail hood:

Her casual hairstyle:

And finally her battle style, pulled back in a flattened bun at the back of her head:
