I’ve been swamped with uni work between a huge dress make and my dissertation so this year is a bit of a quick one. Its inspired by the very old picture kid me did way back in 2006/07 so about 16 years ago.
I actually went out of my way to use very similar materials for this redraw - ballpoint pen, watercolour (only adding a little pencil so I could put a bit more depth in there). The new version feels like it belongs in a horror comic to me but maybe thats wishful thinking.

I wanted to make my own wallpaper for my phone and this is the end result! Loki’s snake symbol in gold on a green background, I’m actually really proud of myself and anyone who wants to use this has my permission ☺️
Went back and adjusted some parts of this, have two new versions to share
I was never 100% happy with this, partly due to the program I used and partly due to some of the shortcuts I took when I made it originally (would rather not have but otherwise wouldn’t have been able to finish without said shortcuts)
I took the time (now that I have it) to redraw this and I can honestly say that I am much happier with the new version :)
AND HERE WE ARE WOOO REDRAW AFTER REDRAW!! I wonder what might come of this next.. but yeah this is my oc Irene and practically these are the only images I have of her.. I might get deep into her story one day! But for now have this lovely redraw
Today I posted this oldie as a #fanartfriday on Instagram, and joked that I’d been wanting to renew it and make it into a painting.
Turns out, the way to get inspiration to draw more fanart, is to post old fanart! I found that I couldn’t go another day before actually trying for the painting, so here is the sketch planning it. (No they are not supposed to be naked, but I couldn’t bother with the clothes in first round, and I don’t complain honestly, so in love with Maglor, it’s not good! )
I also added the hair color roughly to make it easier to see who’s who, and I also tried to make their expressions and grief kind of symbolise their personalities, and I’m quite happy with how individual they all are! (And yes, only one twin, had no room for a second )
From left: Maedhros, Celegorm, Caranthir, Maglor , Curufin and Amrod/Amras(whichever twin survived the burning ships in that one version ). And obviously Feanor is hanging between them . -
I am really really loving how much it has evolved from the original. Obviously a scene like this is a lot easier to draw digitally, but still, I feel I’ve evolved a lot in two years (I better have, right) and I honestly can’t wait to develop this sketch more!!!✨
My 2019 art summary! I’ve never been able to complete one of these before because i’d always take massive breaks and i’m really glad i’ve finally been able to do one!
August is blurred because it’s part of a collaboration that isn’t finished yet and I did nothing else that month but we’ll ignore that
