It’s the last day of #NegroniWeek, and my latest #SpiritedConnections interview with Bobby Heugel is a great reminder that Negroni Week is a great way to raise money, but giving back to our communities is something we should be doing all the time.  


Bobby is a man who has help raise over $1 million dollars for local charities, and understands the importance of philanthropy not only during Negroni Week, but every day. His efforts have helped raise money for Hurricane Harvey relief, Habitat for Humanity, PAWS Houston, The Women’s Fund, and the Art League Houston, to name just a few charities. He is a true inspiration – someone who is passionate about giving back and being a positive force for his customers, the people who work for him, and the community at large.

Ingredients1 oz Campari1 oz Sweet vermouth1.25 oz Bulleit Rye WhiskeyOrange twist (optional)Instruct

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Campari
  • 1 oz Sweet vermouth
  • 1.25 oz Bulleit Rye Whiskey
  • Orange twist (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a rocks glass filled with ice and stir to combine. Garnish with an orange twist.
  2. (To serve the drink up, add all the ingredients to a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir, and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.)

Negroni punch !

Serves 6:
gin 100ml (use cranberry juice for a lower-alcohol serve)
bitter aperitif such as Campari 100ml
sweet vermouth 200ml
chilled espresso 50ml
chilled prosecco 350ml

Combine all ingredients in a punchbowl or large pitcher with ice. Stir lightly. Garnish with orange slices, star anise, cinnamon sticks, long orange and lemon twists, and fresh cranberries. Serve in punch cups.

“There has certainly been a large increase in women bartenders, and I see that scene changing and evolving quickly, especially with organizations like Speed Rack shining a light on women in the industry. We are now at a place where you HAVE to have women behind your bar, it’s no longer the norm to have all male bartenders. With that shift, there are more women becoming serious about cocktails, and as a result moving into leadership positions and ownership roles. I’m really hopeful that we will see a lot more women bar owners in the future."

1 oz. Campari
1 oz. Lime Juice
½ oz. Honey Syrup (1:1 ratio of honey to water)
½ oz. St. George Raspberry Liqueur
Anderson Valley IPA

Combine all ingredients except for the IPA in a shaker. Whip shake (shake just a few times) and add in about 1 ½ oz. of IPA to the tin. Fill a high ball glass with crushed ice, strain the drink into the glass and garnish with slices of orange and lime and a straw.

75 oz. Cacao Nib-Infused Campari
2 oz. Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon
.75 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
.75 oz. Ginger Syrup
Muddled Raspberries
Lemon & Orange Citrus Peels

Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into rocks glass with large ice cube. Garnish with citrus peels.
