Hello to all activists and acti-curious peeps, as well as everyone else who cares about the planet. Last weekend I went to Cornwall as part of XR (Extinction Rebellion), where the G7 summit was taking plact, to protest world leaders’ complacent inaction on the climate crisis. Sadly, G7 leaders are failing us on climate change, and we are #DrowningInPromises.
This video is a collection of highlights from those two days. There are bits of talks by activists including Marvina Newton, as well as mini-interviews with rebels that I filmed myself. If you are curious what an XR protest is really like and/or want to learn more, check it out!

Sea level rise will affect the entire global population in one way or another. Whether it’s the livelihoods of communities in low-lying floodplains, the food procurement process, or global transport networks, sea-level rise will continue to threaten millions of people worldwide.
Specifically, the world of tourism is at risk of rising sea levels. Scientists, experts, and government officials have outlined the extreme risk of flooding in some of these places and that even some of these destinations could simply disappear. The increased threat of sea-level rise also will severely impact the communities that facilitate tourism in these holidaying hotspots.
Here are some visuals showing how some of the world’s most popular holiday destinations could look by 2100, if sea levels continue to rise dramatically.
Everything, from workplaces to parks, could be within 15 minutes of walking for Parisians.
The city is working hard in making itself as independent from cars as possible, investing over 300 million euros in its projects. Car parking lots are replaced with parks while bicycle lanes become more common.
Such a move will drastically improve Paris’s carbon emissions which not only helps in the fight against climate change but also makes the city a better place to live.
Going zero waste needs to be a systematic change! Not just an individual’s choice. China, the European Union and some other countries and counties seem to get the idea but haven’t yet reached this ideal.

This decision is truly the a terrible one that must be reversed at once. Not only is it detrimental to the global climate but it also sends mixed messages to countries world-wide about tackling climate change, which is the last thing we need in this fight.
Yup. Mining Bitcoin sure is bad for the planet with an estimated 37 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions a year.
To put into perspective how much CO2 that is, we’d need to let grow 155 million mature trees for 10 years to suck out the carbon dioxide emissions caused by Bitcoin mining alone for only one year.
Half of all the crypto mining in the world is done in southwest China where power is provided through the burning of coal. The rest aren’t innocent either as most of the world still gets most of its energy from non-renewable sources that emit powerful greenhouse gases.
The fact that crypto mining is so energy intensive combined with the sources of this energy are what makes it a terrible choice for our planet. This could be prevented if renewables were used for meeting the energy demands.
President Joe Biden just signed “an executive order to supercharge our administration’s ambitious plan to confront the existential threat of climate change.”
He is pledging a million new jobs in the US automobile industry which will be generated by the federal government switching its entire fleet to electric vehicles.
This all is amazing but he then stated again that he will not ban fracking…
Switching to electric cars is great if your (or in this case the government’s) cars are old and need to be changed anyways. It’s also important that the energy they run on doesn’t come from non-renewable sources.
Is this move doing more harm than good by replacing functional vehicles with new electric cars? This executive order seems at best symbolic and at worst damaging.
It’s amazing that he tries to tackle climate change (unlike Trump who refused to acknowledge its existence), but if he truly wants to help he must do it in an effective way that goes beyond his public image.
2020 had good parts after all. This Zero Waste shop has opened in December last year and it’s the first of its kind in the city of Bucharest!
90% of the profit generated is either reinvested in the shop or donated, with a whopping 40% going to the Global Ecovillage Network which is a global organization dedicated to building a more sustainable reality for everyone everywhere.

Hey guys! I don’t usually talk about very serious subjects happening around the world at the current moment, but all this news about climate change permanently affecting the planet is creating alot of anxiety around the world at the moment. I’m sure alot of you guys have given up and don’t care anymore, which I do not blame you as I feel the same way. But, with a little bit of motivation I’m sure we can help aid the climate change problem by adding little changes to our everyday schedule.
Below are some recommendations to help slow down climate change:
Unplug electrical devices when not used
Grow trees/oxygen releasing plants (heavily recommend this website for plant recommendations:
Use less gas releasing transport (use bicycle, walk, ext.)
Eat more naturally grown foods - vegetables, fruit, ext. (You can grow your own, which I can assure you is very interesting as well as money saving. By doing this you spend less money on food miles and less electricity is used on factories.)
Shop locally if you are able to. This can help cut carbon emissions and air pollution as well as cut food miles. By making cleaner air we can also make fresher crops.
Throw away less food. Use the food that you buy when you can and compost it. This can help stop methane gas from entering the air.

People are starting to care about the environment, and that’s wonderful… but there’s a catch. Always is, isn’t there? It’s a mix of aestheticism, marketing, and research suppression. More often than not, most entrepreneurs and companies are out to make a quick buck off of people who think that reducing waste or using renewable materials is active environmentalism. It’s not their fault for having the wool pulled over their eyes, that’s how so called “green capitalism” is designed, blaming others for being fooled is just victim blaming. Another tool of separation by the ruling class is greenwashing.
But where’s the point in what I’m saying? It’s not gonna stop anytime soon. The point is to potentially educate those who fall for these these things, as I’ve stated before, they’re victims of marketeering and (probably) propaganda propelled forward by the ruling class. In the end, putting green in front of whatever is being sold doesn’t make it true. Don’t be a victim, be what they fear most, educated.

Focusing on too many things at once is a problem I face personally, couple that with the need to take everything upon myself and low stress tolerance and you have a disaster waiting to happen. If you face the same problem as me, I’d highly suggest making a group of specialized people and solve small problems locally, whether that be growing food, hooking up satellites for free WiFi, setting up a Food Not Bombs chapter in your area, or even cooperation in local to state government. We all have our talents, honing yours can change a life, but it takes all of us to change the world in a significant way. To rebuild a structure, parts must be torn down, the more you tear down periodically, the better the structure is going to be, however it must be reinforced. You cannot expect a house to stand without a plan for a structure, we are the supports that make the wall, the roof, and the floor. The foundation is what we believe in, and what the foundation is, is hope. Hope for a future that can be, with action, collaboration, and resistance against the hierarchical, overbearing, and exploitative power structures that currently exist.
This has been my first post in a while, so I’ll see ya’ll again in probably a month to commemorate my first post on this site “A Beginner’s Guide to Solarpunk” which absolutely blew up my account, to be truthful I’m proud of how far we’ve all come with our small internet based movement reaching new heights and our voices getting louder in the ears of politicians and capitalists alike. We’re here to stay, don’t forget about it.
