It’s been so long since we’ve had an update on here about the wonderful World of Vaire and it’s Adventures, and with Arc 2 of the World’s Narrative coming to it’s climatic close, we figured it was time for some kind of catch-up.

I’ll just get right to the point: We’ve been having so much fun lately, with the last Campaigns of Arc 2 coming to their ends, we’ve had Boss Fights against Campaign-spanning villains, dramatic discoveries of ancient mysteries and lost lands, and all in a wonderful world and a timeline that seems to be constantly expanding.

We’ve just been blown away by what everyone has been doing, so much more that we don’t have time to fit all of it into a single update.

I personally feel that this second arc of the world and its narrative has had the most fun and wacky storylines, from plane-hopping puzzles to stop a Lich, to finding the pieces of a Dead God, all the way to hunting down and getting revenge on a very mean Archmage that stole some Magic Items, these stories have been great and I just wanted to thank everyone for making it as great as it was.

Now, after all that, it’s time to talk about the upcoming endings of Arc 2 and the beginnings of Arc 3!

Arc 2′s Climax!

This is it! The Second big Story Arc of the World of Vaire’s Narrative is finally come to its grand conclusion.

As we’ve been anticipating for a while now, with the destruction of the final vestiges and remnants of The Cult of the Red Star and their schemes to drown the World now destroyed, the World’s been left to return to its own, peaceful cycle, with new stories to arrive on the World’s periphery.

Shattered Souls: A Glowing Finale!

After what could be years of conflict and over a year of games with this group, the strife, political intrigue and corruption they’ve been facing finally seems to be defeated, with the citizens of Shekpiaand the World at large finally able find some peace after the death of the evil and amoral Queen Tuala, the defeat of the scheming Archmage Vekey, and the destruction of what seems to be the last of the Soul-swallowing magical stones the Party has been hunting down since their adventures began so long ago….

But the question remains, with their duties done and the world left in peace, what will our heroes do now, and how will this chapter of their lives come to its close?

It seems the only way to find out right now is to listen in to the  penultimate and final chapter of Shattered Souls in its Campaign Finale on our Discord Server!

Debt & Darkness: Crescendo!

With the nightmare of the Tulkaz the Whisperer’s reign of terror now over and the future seemingly secured after the Lich’s defeat, our heroes return to the Underground Dark Elf City of Maydeen, where they take advantage of the situation to return to their normal lives, and finally rekindle their relationships with others, as this chapter of their life’s stories plays out to a final crescendo!

But can our heroes truly grow so comfortable, knowing that the Soul of Tulkaz has been sent to the depths of the Infinite Abyss, and that the Lich’s evil has only been temporarily contained?

Will this period of peace be merely the lull before the storm of Tulkaz’s return? Or is their a worst nightmare just beginning?

It seems the end will only be known by those that join in on Debt and Darkness’s Campaign Finale in our Discord Server, as these final chapters of our ongoing adventures reach their climactic conclusion.

Arc 3 Begins!

Arc 3 is so soon to be in just a few short weeks of this Post going live!

As mentioned before, Arc 3 hopes to be one of the biggest, toughest and most interesting Arc of Games that the World of Vaire and its storytellers have ever seen: From a whole Crew of Sailors charging into the Astral Sea, to Divine Champions hoping to gain the favour of the very Gods they worship, these Games will take us across the Planes of the Shadowfell, Feywild, The Astral Sea and more as our heroes race against time to stop a New Cult and their malformed creations of un-life from completing their chaotic mission to release the powers of a Mad God upon the Multiverse!

And if you’re interested in joining us, either by listening in on the live sessions, chatting with the Players and DMs or even becoming a Player in the Games as they happen, check out Discord Server for more information on how to get involved and save the World of Vaire from the clutches of a Mad God’s Cult!

Heaven & Hel: Season 2 Begins!

With their acquisition of the Petrified Head of the Old God known as Baldur the Beautiful, our heroes head in Arc 3 with the hopes of reuniting the scattered Pieces of Baldur’s Body and Soul, so that the fallen god may return to the Halls of Valhalla and stop the quickly approaching darkness of the coming Ragnarök…

Season 2 of Heaven and Hel promises to be the toughest yet, as our duo of heroes, Maltuul the Elven WizardandSaeunn the Tiefling Ranger, face the strongest forces of the Multiverse: From sailing the Astral Sea of Stars on a Githyanki Void Cruiser, to hunting down the Soul of a Fire Giant and even entering the Palace of the great Hela, Goddess of Death, with the hopes of stealing away Baldur’s trapped Soul from her grand banquet halls.

The time of cold and darkness is approaching, and there may not be easy victories for our heroes in the coming months of their adventures, but it seems they are the only hope for a Multiverse that doesn’t devolve into a chaotic, violent battlefield…

And if you’re interested in listening along to their adventures and hearing their latest news, be sure to join us on the Heaven and Hel channel of our Discord Server, and join in on our live sessions every week to hear of their latest adventures as they happen!

Skin & Fog: A New Story Begins!

With a Demonic Cult quickly rising in power to the West, Archmage Eitha Carandol-Norgalad, theArchmage of Benlochia, rushes to her country’s aid, hiring some of the greatest sailors and most knowledgeable scribes to sail the waves of the Astral Sea of Stars and bring back a collection of sacred tomes from the very depths of the otherworldly ocean.

Not much can be said right now about this Campaign (to avoid spoilers), but it definitely looks to set off the new Arc of Games in a big way, with a lot of focus on the Astral Sea of Stars, the Crew of ‘The Vendetta’, a magical star-sailing ship, and the powerful artifacts, experiments and space junk left behind in the Astral Sea from before the Wars of the Gods…

And if you want to jump right on this new Arc of Stories of Games, with no need to know of the previous Arcs, then hop on in to our Discord Server and join as this new Campaign starts!

Well that was a big ol’ update on my part, but with so much happening and the World of Vaire transitioning from the climatic finales of it’s current games into the exciting beginnings of new games, I hope you’re just as excited as I am for the next chapter of this wonderful story, whether you’re a big time player or just along for the ride…

With Arc 2 of the World’s narrative coming to its grand finale and the next Story Arc of the World to soon begin, I thought that it’s about time to catch the newer Readers up on the events in the Story so far, and where the Story could be going in the future…

So without further interruption, let’s start, as most stories do, at the beginning…

Arc 1: The Raging Tides

In this first chapter of the World’s Story, the Heroes of Vaire discovered the existence of a secretive Cult to an Old and Powerful Demon Lord.

The Cult was so devoted in their efforts that they were willing to drown the World of Vaire in saltwater and blood, in order to keep alllands under the control of their Dark and Demonic Master, Dagon…

Arc 2: The Red Star

During the second Arc, the World of Vaire is still recovering from the massive damages done to the lands and people at the hands of Dagon’s Cult, but a sickly Red Star, forged by Dagon’s Cult during a ritual-gone-wrong, still hangs in the sky.

And with it, the fragmented remnants of Dagon’s Cult form again under a new name: The Cult of the Red Star.

Arc 3: The Clarion’s Call

In the upcoming 3rd Chapter of the World’s Story (scheduled to start soon), the World of Vaire seems to be finally rid of The Cult of the Red Star, and with it they destroy the last parts of Dagon’s influence.

However, a greater threat from the demon-filled Infinite Abyss rises, and a New Cult known only as “The Unchained” arrives to attack Vaireonce again, with the hopes of breaking their Chained Mad God free from the walls of his Prison at the very bottom of the Infinite Abyss, and using his “Gifts” to set him upon the World of Vaire and send the Multiverseitself into a spiral of chaos and oblivion!

I hope this short and sweet summary of the World of Vaire and its Storyis helpful to both new Readers or veteran Game-Masters.

This world is a fascinating place full of both mystery and secrets waiting to be uncovered!

We have a long history behind us and a vast amount of history that’s about to start; The coming adventures of the World of Vaire are about to begin, and we can’t wait for you to hear all about it and get involved!

  1. Spring a Leak!: Your boat springs a leak and takes on water. The leak must be repaired, but your journey can continue while you do so. If the leak is not repaired, the boat sinks after 1d6 hours.
  2. Sudden Sea Storm!: A sudden squall makes your boat tilt suddenly. One important item falls into the water. The DM decides what it is.
  3. Run Around!: Your boat runs aground and must be abandoned or repaired. The boat must be on the shore to be properly repaired, or risk sinking into the sea the moment it sets sail again!
  4. Man Overboard!: A Crew Member of the DM’s choice falls overboard after a large wave hits the boat. If no one notices, they may leave them behind!
  5. Whirlpool: Your boat is caught in a whirlpool. The Crew must survive the great waves and pull of the whirlpool using their own wits, skills and teamwork. Failure means the boat runs aground and has to be repaired before your journey can continue.
  6. Navigational Error: You sail off course and make no progress during this part of travelling.

Me? Homebrewing two new gods to add to the d&d campaign I’m DMing? Becoming so attached to them that I make them a central aspect of the conflict I have? Needing to change the main villains motivation a bit to fit their new place in the narrative?

Far more likely than you’d think

This is NalitamaandIgnikoi and they, together as one, are the goddesses of lesbianism being in love.

They’ve been inseparable since their birth, they have a magical nameless daughter who doesn’t age lest war befall the lands, and I wrote around a whole plot hook just to include em.

The Archfae my players met this last session. It will be interesting as one of them continues down the path of Warlock to see how their relationship (if you can call it that) progresses

Good picture for time before!!! @lunargent-thorn

Hey, I don’t know how to say this without sounding like a total ass but if you want art of a character you should find an artist to commission something original and not take an existing artist’s personal work.

There is a plethora free resources out there and people who make art that is free for use. This is not one of them. This is not fanart. This is an original character of mine and I do not give permission for my personal work to be used by others for any reason.

It may seem silly that something as simple as this would send me into a rage but please understand that any art I make is the product of years of hard work and life experiences. When someone takes art of original content and makes it ‘theirs’ it feels very much that, as an artist, I am simply viewed as some product producing factory and not a person who created something.

I’m posting this publicly so that others can see and understand where I’m coming from and not to blast or shame. I don’t want to have to continue to repeat myself in the future when someone else inevitably decides that my art somehow belongs to them. I’m not interested in dogpiling but please learn from this and know that it is not okay to take someone’s original content for personal use.

Maps from this week’s game. The players went through these maze like maps encountering twisted parodies of the things they had encountered in the world up to now. At the end of the dungeon they met the man who arranged all of this who left them with more questions than answers.

Assets from 2minute tabletop which I cannot recommend enough if you’re looking to get into making custom maps

Raiment of the Stormwalker

To wear the raiment of the stormwalker is to become the storm. With it, you can travel on the thunderclouds and strike at foes like lightning. Cloaked in clouds, booming like thunder, and crackling with electricity, you become a tempest.

The raiment of the stormwalker works best in the hands of a monk, druid, or other character who enters melee but prefers not to wear armor.

In particular, a druid should consider the items of this set, as its powers are available while in wild shape. However, a character of any class should consider collecting at least two pieces of the set to gain some of the raiment’s lesser collection benefits and the abilities of the desired items.

Collection Benefits

Wearing multiple pieces of the raiment of the stormwalker gives you the power to create clouds, call down electricity from the sky, and laugh off lightning strikes.

When you wear the entire raiment of the stormwalker, the robe of thunder flashes with lightning that crackles across the other parts of the raiment.

All the collection benefits of the raiment function normally for and can be activated by a druid while in wild shape, even if the items have melded with their form and would otherwise be considered nonfunctional.

2 Pieces: You can cast the Fog Cloud Spell as a standard action three times per day.

3 Pieces: You can cast the Call Lightning Spell as a standard action once per day.

4Pieces:You gain Resistance to Lightning Damage from magical and non-magical attacks. If such an attack allows a save for half damage, you instead take no damage on a successful save.

Bracers of Lightning

Wondrous Item, Very Rare (Requires Attunement)

BodySlot:Arms

Each of these wide, faintly glowing bracers is made of four thin, rectangular quartz crystals joined by narrow silver bands.

A set of bracers of lightning allows you to charge your melee and ranged weapon attacks with electricity. When you activate the bracers, they visibly crackle with electricity for 1 round. During this time, your melee and ranged attacks deal an extra 1d6 lightning damage. Even your Unarmed Strikes deal this additional lightning damage.

Cloudwalker Anklets

Wondrous Item, Very Rare (Requires Attunement)

BodySlot:Feet/Boots

Designed to go around the wearer’s ankles, each of these bands consists of two half-circles of carved quartz joined by a silver hinge and clasp.

Cloudwalker anklets allow you to move through the air as if benefiting from the effects of the FlySpell. When the anklets’ property has been used for a total of 10 minutes, the magic ceases to function until you finish a Long Rest.

Robes of Thunder

Wondrous Item, Very Rare (Requires Attunement)

Body Slot: Shoulders/Cloak

This silk robe roils with the colors of storm clouds, constantly shifting in shade and hue.

While you wear a robe of thunder, you gain resistance to Thunder Damage from magical and nonmagical attacks. If such an attack allows a save for half damage, you instead take no damage with a successful save. This is a continuous effect and requires no activation.

When activated, a robe of thunder surrounds you in an invisible, faintly rumbling aura of thunder that lasts for 1d4 + 1 rounds (minimum of 2).

This aura deals 2d6 points of thunder damage to any creature striking you with a natural melee weapon or melee weapon attack. This ability functions three times per day.

Stormfire Ring

Ring, Very Rare (Requires Attunement)

Body Slot: Ring

When you activate a stormfire ring, it creates a Faerie Fire effect of crackling lightning that lasts for 1d4 + 1 rounds (minimum of 2).

This effect functions as the spell, except that each creature affected takes 1d6 points of lightning damage each round for the duration.

Using the ring on a creature that is already affected doesn’t increase the damage dealt, but it does extend the effect’s duration.

A stormfire ring functions five times per day.

Context: So this was our first session of the campaign, and our Arakokra Druid was just killed for good. Our entire party had been getting awful rolls, and there hadn’t been a single nat 20. So the Teifling Warlock ( and my characters sister ) decided to make a deal.

Warlock OOC: Okay so we all know { Druid } is suffering…
Druid: [overly dramatic dying noises ]
Warlock OOC: Hey, { me } if I roll a 20, you have to buy us all drinks.
Me, making up a mourning speech: Alright, hit me.

Everyone went silent as our Warlock rolled, and to my dismay got the first nat 20 of the night. Needless to say, I bought everyone a drink.

So… I was playing a one-shot with my friends and we were trying to kill this gorgon with increased hit points. I’m playing a wood elf ranger, and we have a gnome bard and a half orc rogue. Everyone is getting *garbage* rolls including the DM. Nothing but 3’s and 7’s. At this point we’re trying anything, and my friend who’s playing the half-orc rogue made the terrible mistake of asking us what we thought she should do.

Rogue: Guys, what should I do?

A small moment of silence.

Me: Go for double penetration up its ass with your daggers.

Rogue (laughing): Ummm… ok?

Bard (losing his shit): If you get a nat 20…

Rogue gets a nat 20. She then proceeds to rip its asshole apart. She was using 2 daggers and was getting sneak damage, so she rolled 2d6+2d4. She rolled 2 sixes, a two and a four, and then doubled it because of the nat 20. She dealt 36 damage and brought it down to 4 hit points. We go through another round of everyone missing their attacks, but then the rogue rolled an 18, which was enough to hit.

DM: So, how do you want to kill this thing?

The rogue then made a big mistake.

Rogue: Any ideas?

Me: climb inside it and kill it from the inside.

She did exactly that.

Dm: I’m not describing that… it’s dead… everyone roll a constitution saving throw to see if you throw up.

We all failed.

And that was how we saved the village.

Context: So our party had just freed a few salves from a mine, and one of the slaves happened to be a witch. She decided to give us some gifts as a thank you. The gifts consisted of magical items, some of which were pretty cool. Then, it was our half-elf Druid’s turn to receive her gift…

Witch: And for this brave half-elf….*pulls out a tiny bird shaped bell* The bird keeper’s bell!
Half-Elf: Ummm…thanks? *awkwardly receives it*
Half-orc: Ha! But that’s so plain compared to the other gifts!
Witch: On the contrary! With this bell, she will be able to summon a bird friend to aid her in battle.
Party: Huh?
Witch: And not any bird either. Using this bell, Aethel now has control over a giant dodo.
Party: A DODO?!
Aethel: *GASP* gUYS. IMMA NAME IT DODO BAGGINS.
Party and DM: ROTFL
