#dnd monster
[id: A winged creature made of smoke swoops down at the viewer, with large talons and glowing eyes. In the distance, several similar creatures perching on rock spires are silhouetted against a blood-red sunset.]
My contribution to the @tgtw-project summer edition (Xhorhas and Blightshore): Gloomstalkers!
Aggraloths dislike taking contracts, and would rather spend their days lounging around. Whenever they must take contracts they greatly prefer guard jobs to protect stationary areas but they are sometimes ordered to cause mayhem by their higher ups, which they do without complaint, as they understand their lack of magical powers and silently fear Yugoloths with arcane gifts. An aggraloth employed for combat lumbers into the middle of a battle and uses its immense metal body to crush lesser beings.
Aggraloths are large and bipedal, Its whole body is covered in a metallic armor, looking kind of like a wide platemail knight. They have two sharp horns and piercing blue eyes. They employ their entire body as their arsenal, using whatever heavy limb is closest to an enemy at that time to slam them and disorient them.
Dents and scratches in their armor is seen as medals of victory and they wear their injuries with pride. Clean coated aggraloths are hazed and given rough jobs to either toughen them up or end their pathetic life.
Based on the legendary Japanese yokai “Nue”
“A neui is a chimera type demon, with the head, torso and back legs of a golden snub nosed monkey, front arms of a lions, and a snake for a tail. Despite its demonic nature it acts more like a wild animal than a force for chaos. It keeps to itself in wilderness or hiding in crowded towns, hunting prey animals for food but kills in surplus which usually results in its extermination. It’s poison causes great fatigue that in weaker creatures causes death after under a week.
They are tremendously difficult to bribe or coerce into work, with physical bullying being the only known way to cause one to act subservient but only until out of view in which case it attempts to regain its freedom.”
A little cube that collects bones and sometimes swords… consumes everything it touches… or most of it… A little sticker I’ll be sending to my April Patreons
Heyo, I’ve been too depressed to have the energy to post, but I do have things to share :V
Here’s a monster I drew the summer of last year that I’m still super proud of, but couldn’t post until now, because it was spoilers for a oneshot I was gonna run, and it only happened about a month ago! The first image is what I initially introduced it like to make the players from their own scary image of it (twas a horror oneshot), and the second one is the reveal >:3
I used the Shambling Mound stat block and basic idea for it + added some mushroom spores into the mix. It was made by druids though and is not evil, it’s just a big guardian plant to protect some nature~
- This Monster tries to play Dead. With a successful Wisdom (Perception) Check, a Character might notice the “Dead”Creature’s rising chest as it tries to hold its breath, or perhaps the “Dead”Creature has one eye open, waiting in silence for the Party to leave it alone.
- This Monster will flee and desperately try to escape. If the Party attempts to hunt down the fleeing Creature, it becomes a Chase Scene!
- This Monster hunts down those who are already the closest to death, such as the Character with the least Hit Points or the Character that is the oldest according to their Race.
- This Monster attacks the largest Creature in sight, seeing them as “The Biggest Threat”. This Monster will attack the tallest Character in the Party.
- This Monster wishes to bring the Characters in captured and restrained, for whatever later use. This Monster will attack non-vital areas and try to restrain and non-lethally take down opponents.
- This Monster attempt to parlay with the Enemy, they’ll let the Party take a small reward to leave them alone, or fight them for everything.
- This Monster is greedy and cowardly. They and several other Minions will abandon the fight as soon as it looks like they’re losing, running away with as much treasure as they can carry!
- This Monster believes if they can’t have the Treasure, no on can! They’ll do anything from throwing it over a cliff to dumping it all into a fast-flowing river!
- This Monsters tries to convince the Party that they are merely a Prisoner in the hands of the Enemy. This Monster may or may not be a Shapeshifter.
- This Monster is vengeful and craves violence against the people that slayed it. This Monster returns (possibly during the fight) as a psychic vision that swears vengeance, or a ghost possessing one of the few Minions that escaped the chaos.
