LIVE

I wish someone would call Drumpf out on this bullshit that he has many “friends.” I doubt he has more than 5 actual friends. Everyone else is just businesses partners and acquaintances. Everytime he opens his mouth and says “I have many many friends” every fucking time I just want to scream at him to name ONE GOD DAMN FUCKING FRIEND

WHERE ARE THESE FRIENDS?! WHO ARE THEY?! HUH?!

NO ONE ELSE TROUTS THAT THEY HAVE LOTS OF FRIENDS IN ORDER TO SEEM LIKEABLE

he’s like a guy that thinks having a lot of facebook friends twitter followers is proof that he’s popular

Trump just signed an executive order calling for a reinstatement of the Global Gag Rule. This video is a simple breakdown of what the Global Gag Rule is and its implications.

Article about Global Gag Rule: The Guardian

If the United States coughs, the rest of the world is going to catch the flu.

WHAT HAPPENED:

This is not surprising as Trump holds stock in Energy Transfer Partners, the same company that is building the Dakota Access Pipeline according to Fortune.

WHAT THIS MEANS:

  • The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s water supply may be heavily compromised if the pipeline would ever leak.

As environmentalist Bill McKibben noted in the New Yorker, the pipeline was originally slated to cross the Missouri River not far from North Dakota’s capital city of Bismarck, but the route was changed partly due to concerns about the potential contamination of the capitol’s drinking water in the event of a leak or spill. The pipeline is now set to run half a mile from the Sioux reservation near its water supply, Lake Oahe. (x)

  • The construction of the pipeline is expected to disrupt the tribe’s sacred burial grounds and other historically significant sites.
  • In a broader perspective, the environment would suffer extreme consequences as it will fuel climate change.

Not only is it infringing on Native American rights but this pipeline will quicken the demise of Planet Earth. This is bigger than politics.

Trumpsigned an executive order to proclaim a National Day of Patriotism.

It was not immediately clear when that day would occur. There was also no immediate detail on whether this would be a presidential proclamation or a call for a federal holiday.

How revolutionary! Groundbreaking! I never imagined we would have a special day that would celebrate our country and its accomplishments! The 4th of July is NOTHING compared to this new holiday!

People were led to believe that Trump wrote his eerily nationalistic Inaugural speech after posting this photo on Twitter a few days before the Inauguration:

Butaccording to The Wall Street Journal, Trump’s speech was written by his two aids: Steve Bannon (executive chairman of the extremely right-wing “news” page Breitbart) and Stephen Miller (infamously worked for racist Jeff Sessions who may be appointed for Attorney General).

We can’t trust a word Trump (or his wife) says to the public.

I don’t trust Bernie Sanders(which is your icon) more than Donald Trump.

@secondlake: Well it’s sad that you believe in a man who lies more than half of the time

And when he is saying the “truth,” this is what he says:

This is saddest post I have ever seen because you think PolitiFact’s judges of “Truth or False” are all right.
Although I checked Trump’s False page which PolitiFact tells us, I thought a lot of those false judges are just their judges about Donald Trump. As a source and the media, PolitiFact has no value.
As an addition post, “Truth or False” pages which PolitiFact used from Trump’s twitter posts are just their choices. This is not fair.

@secondlake: I guess you are just another believer of Kellyanne Conway’s use of the term “alternative facts” as justification for all the false statements Trump spews out on a day to day basis.

Even a Pulitzer Prize winning website that uses credible and various sources to prove their “judgments” have no standing with Trumpians. But the judgments of a reality TV star (that has declared bankruptcy 6 times) who has made a following based off his constant demeaning of others who don’t look or agree with him is more knowledgeable than any expert who confronts him on his divisive and demagogic tactics.

To think people respect and trust a man who has sexually assaulted womenevaded taxes anddodged the military draft 5 times is incredible. But hey, people still blindly supported Hitler even as he tried to exterminate an entire religion. Just like Trump said, Trumpians would still support him if he went out and shoot someone.

acrobat-elle:

So, Trump’s press secretary’s first official order of business was to slam the press for accurately reporting the size of the crowd for Trump’s inauguration, lie repeatedly in contradiction of all factual and photographic evidence, and refuse to take questions.

Trump said that the media will “pay a big price” for accurately reporting the small size of the crowds.

Oh, and they’re considering evicting the press from the White House.

This is what fascism looks like. This should terrify everyone.

Толстой плакал

It’s always puzzled me that Russians - a proud, creative, energetic people that have made countless contributions to the world in the sciences, literature, music and many other areas - allow themselves to be ruled by a gang of brutal, corrupt, humorless thugs. The world sees today’s Russia primarily as a bleak commodity-producing dictatorship that bullies its smaller neighbors and tries to exert international influence through - get this - massive government-sponsored hacking and trolling social media. And poisoning people they don’t like. And the general population is either proud of all this or indifferent. It’s kind of pathetic.

Even more pathetic that the Republican Party in the US - from the president on down - admires Russia so much, and for the same reasons.

Do you think Trump will be subject to prosecution for his many crimes after he leaves office?

If Trump loses reelection in 2020 (not a sure thing of course), expect him to resign the day before the new president is inaugurated, and Pence to give him a full pardon (along with pardons for Manafort, Stone and Flynn).

Republicans, pundits and more than a few Democrats will welcome this: time to move on etc. The country will be too swept up in the excitement of the new administration to care. The new administration itself will be glad to be rid of the distraction.

And Trump’s lifetime of getting away with shit will be complete. Soon we’ll see his name on schools, roads, airports. Brace yourself.

A footnote to my previous post, if and when the full Mueller report is leaked, expect the leaker to be demonized and prosecuted mercilessly. Remember Reality Winner? Probably not - that’s my point.

Can there be any better case study of how Republicans are so effective at manipulating media and public discourse than the Barr DOJ’s handling of the Mueller report?

1. Barr’s “summary “ letter established the basic spin of “no collusion, no obstruction“, even though it’s now clear the report is more nuanced. And of course taking advantage of nuance to establish favorable spin is a classic Republican tactic.

2. The letter set off a completely predictable round of Democratic retreat, recriminations, navel-gazing etc.

3. Congressional Democrats’ fully proper demand for the full report was recast as a”tiff”, part of a “feud” between Trump and Nader. Recasting straightforward legal issues in terms of personalities- also classic.

And the future course of events is perfectly obvious:

4. When the redacted report appears, the redactions will almost certainly shade the report in Trump’s favor. Congressional Democrats who have seen the full report will angrily assert this, and Mueller’s investigators will confirm. But Barr and Republicans will deny. And the media will report the controversy.

5. Democrats will subpoena the full report, Republicans will refuse, and it will go to court. Eventually - well after Trump has (hopefully) left office, it will reach the Supreme Court, which will rule in favor of Trump. The full report might well be leaked at that point, but it will attract little notice by journalists, because it’s no longer at the forefront of the news: “the country has moved on.”

6. And, many years later, historians will review the whole sorry history of the Trump presidency and find things that are even more shocking. But that will be much, much too late to matter.

A hypothesis

I haven’t posted in a long time (too many fish, not enough barrels etc) but I thought I’d put this out there:

Putin is getting frustrated because, while Trump has delivered a lot of what Putin asked (weakening NATO, free hand in Syria, etc) he still hasn’t done enough to loosen sanctions on Russian oligarchs. But rather than throwing in the towel and releasing his abundant compromising material on Trump, he’s giving it one last shot by going directly to the Senate.

When seven senators and a rep suddenly visited Russia last week - on July 4 no less - I’m guessing Putin (or his people) outlined what the FSB knows in some detail. And they made it clear that it will all come out - permanently crippling a Republican president and the Republican Party with him - if they don’t move to lift sanctions. Fast. The “pee tape” is no doubt just a funny detail - the really damning stuff probably includes money laundering, election hacking, data theft, bribery, extortion, and more. Everything the FSB, via Manafort/Stone/Sater/Cohen er al, have been doing to advance the Trump family’s business and political interests going back 20+ years.

Sen Johnson’s recent comments isuggest that the warming made quite an impression. They’re scared. And they may only have four months left to do anything about it.

The next few weeks should be very interesting.
