Just got an anon asking about it so I’ll post it here.
This new form is apparently called “Final Gohan”. It has longer white hair and red eyes. Beyond that, it’s not really explained, as it’s a bit of a surprise to Gohan himself, to say nothing of the others. Explanations will likely be forthcoming in a statement by Toriyama.
I can’t help but remember this though.
The descriptions I’ve heard also make it sound as if there appeared to be actual hair GROWTH, similar to when Gohan first went SSJ2.
In regards to a previous post about a certain scene involving Piccolo and Gohan…
It turns out that the one who kidnaps Pan for Red Ribbon is indeed… Piccolo. He tells her to play along and he’ll keep her safe, but he apparently wants to leverage this as something to snap Gohan out of his funk and push him to take his training seriously again? Based on the one detailed spoiler review I’ve seen anyways. Granted he intended to keep her safe and never thought there’d be real danger, but sheesh.
I wonder if he’ll get labeled a “bad dad” too? Hmm…
There’s a moment in the movie where it’s revealed that Pan apparently can’t fly, only doing so when her life is endangered. There’s a lot of speculation about this. Some argue that Toriyama forgot, others say that it’s a sign they’re going by the manga where she apparently has yet to be seen flying, still others are speculating that it simply is a case of Pan doing so instinctively as an infant, and then struggling to do it consciously later, a la Gohan and his brief moments of being able to tap into his power before training.
I can’t really speak on this yet, and I think that really any of these assumptions are jumping the gun unless and until I see things in context, but I just wanted to say that for now, it’s really nothing to waste your energy on being upset about until we have more information.
I find it very hard to believe, however, that a movie that’s a sequel to a movie announced as the continuation of “the story currently airing on TV”, and seemingly referencing the anime-only fights Goku had with Ribrianne and Kefla would suddenly shift gears to following the manga version of events. Especially given details of other things that happen in the movie. I’ll leave it at that for now.
Alright, a LOT of Super Hero spoilers are out in the wild now, and I’ve decided I’m gonna let you guys decide how in-depth you want me to go into them.

OK I’m not sure if this was dub only but in the Dead Zone movie, Gohan is reading about insects and he’s talking about cicadas, so maybe the fact he’s studying about bugs here is a callback to that idk this is so adorable

And in a rather amusing turn of events, Cell was based on a cicada. Go figure. lol
Not sure if it’s meant as a callback to this considering Toriyama’s very minimal involvement in previous movies but it’s interesting.

So a scene involving Gohan and Piccolo has leaked, and it provides a rather… interesting look at Gohan.
Gohan is throwing himself into his studies again and relying on others to take care of things for him while he does so. Just expects Piccolo to step up and pick up Pan for him so he can focus on this.
So my question is: given the standards for which Goku is labeled a “Bad Dad” by the fandom, do we now apply this same standard to Gohan? Do we declare him a bad husband and father because of this?
Or do we recognize that parents can sometimes make mistakes and the differentiator is whether or not they’ll admit them and step up to fix it? Do we look at all the other evidence surrounding Pan and Gohan’s relationship and use that to inform the big picture, or do we hyper-fixate on this moment and use it to brand him forever?
