The cheer squad for Sapporo’s professional baseball team, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, debuted a new inning break routine set to Ylvis’ The Fox (“What Does the Fox Say?”) this season. The song didn’t have much impact in Japan when it came out, so a lot of folks are now encountering it for the first time. The routine (きつねダンス, or “Fox Dance”) has gotten so popular that TV networks have started broadcasting it instead of going straight to commercials, and even national news programs have been covering it and the original song. It grows. It spreads. Jacha-chacha-chacha-chow.

Pekopa is one of my favorite comedy acts. Most manzai (漫才) uses a straight man/foil format like Abbott and Costello, with the “straight man” usually getting increasingly frustrated with the “foil” over the course of a routine. But in Pekopa, Shoinji never gets mad, finding positive interpretations for Shupei’s actions even as Shupei abandons the routine entirely.
Also, Shoinji sometimes rolls in on heelys.
After 18 years of searching and waiting for the perfect color for my dear Neopet DellPCProcesser, I’ve decided to morph him into another species entirely. But I wanted to draw Dell as a Skunk Kyrii at least once first.
