#folklore
(from a seriously superstitious Chinese-Nicaraguan family)
- Eat 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight for 12 months of good luck.
- Throw bowls or buckets of water out of the house to get rid of the tears and troubles of the past year.
- To encourage travel, take your luggage for a run around the block or a few trips up and down your stairs. Be sure to pack for the kinds of trips you want to have.
- Eat long noodles for luck and longevity.
- Make as much noise as possible to ward off bad spirits/energy. The best way is to go outside and bang your pots and pans together and yell.
- Clean your house. If you don’t want to clean your whole house, just sweep everything out the front door. You’ll be cleansing your house of both dust and bad juju.
- Write a list of the things you want to forget from the past year and then burn it.
- And to tell the future you can crack an egg open into a glass of water. The whites and yolk will form an image of your future in the new year.
Things To Research As A Sea Witch MASTERLIST
Sea witches are so interesting. They emit very loving and calm vibes. But also a very intense “calm before the storm” vibe. These individuals often work their magic on the sea shore or near the sea. Some who don’t live near the sea, works with close bodies of water.
This list is certainly not all you need to know, but I wrote as much as I could. You also don’t have research all of these either, they’re just suggestions! :)

The Jersey Devil
Do you have a favorite cryptid? As a native New Jerseyan, mine is definitely the 13th child of Old Mrs. Leeds, otherwise known as the Jersey Devil. I finally got to make it into a custom, including with a map of the Garden State as a tuft of hair on its chest.
Omg so I just watched a movie called Wolfwalkers. And it’s this beautifully animated movie about old Irish folklore werewolf-ish people and it is probably my new favorite movie. I highly suggest watching it. It’s so good!
A guide for new tumblr users:
1) This place is not a place of honor… no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here… nothing valued is here.
2) What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger.
3) The danger is in a particular location… it increases towards a center… the center of danger is here… of a particular size and shape, and below us.
4) The danger is still present, in your time, as it was in ours.
5) The danger is to the body, and it can kill.
6) The form of the danger is an emanation of energy.
7) The danger is unleashed only if you substantially disturb this place physically. This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.
