mitresquaremurder:

You may have seen the top image in conjunction with a news article about tipis being burned at Standing Rock. It is a fake.

For those of you sharing it around, please know that it’s actually a photoshopped version of a still from the movie Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee. As you can see, the individuals are in Union uniform, carrying muskets, and snow and haybales have been added as well as cropping the mounted figure out. I, of course, have no idea what actually went down at Standing Rock but please pay attention to what you’re sharing and do your research. Not everything you read is true and regardless of what really happened, using a false image deliberately changed in order to stir up anger is bad journalism and does not make good credibility.

Stand up against “Don’t Say Gay” laws that several states within the USA are trying to push through- they’re insidious.

It’s way beyond LGBTQ erasure. It’s more than than isolating LGBTQ students, teachers, and other members of society and putting them at risk of discrimination, violence, suicide, and disenfranchisement to the fringes of society. “Don’t Say Gay” laws are designed not to protect children from “inappropriate material”, they’re actually a direct effort to prevent the educational process necessary to change society to end discrimination and violence, particularly Transgender discrimination. Only education at a young age can achieve this goal.

Something I said last year in a post about the racial hate that’s been flaring up here, discusses the process:

“Racism, just like homophobia, is going to take decades and decades to be reduced by education and creating new standards. We can’t flip a switch and make everyone’s deeply rooted beliefs change. It’s learned, passed down generation to the next, from family and community.(https://mysterioususerx.tumblr.com/post/646005364447428608/two-weeks-ago-i-answered-an-ask-about-why)

Eliminating LGBTQ history and other educational programs and content stops this process dead in its tracks at a key critical moment in our history. It’s an effort to stop Transgender rights from happening.

STAND UP AGAINST “DON’T SAY GAY”! Our future and survival are depending upon it! And this goes way beyond the United States: as one of the most influential countries on the planet, we’re setting global precident too.

This post goes out to my 15 year old transgender friend, Connor who lost his life last year because of bullying from his own parents.

Please reblog this to honor my friend and each transgender person who has lost their life for no other reason than hate.

I have two burning questions.

1.  Why did this Wafer minion answer the door if he was in so much fear for his life?  Why didn’t he call the police instead?  and

2. When Wafer did decide to answer the door, he did so with a 12-gauge shotgun pointed at the face of a unarmed woman behind a locked screen door.  What did he have to fear?

The reasonable doubt rests upon the crooked shoulders of a 54 year old in-humane demon.  I would like to see how this will play out on Dec. 18th.

morbidology:

On 7 June, 1998, in Texas, an African American man by the name of James Byrd Jr. accepted a ride from three white men - Lawrence Brewer, John King, and Shawn Berry. Instead of taking Byrd home, they inflicted unimaginable pain and suffering to the innocent man.

They took him to a secluded country road and beat him half to death - they broke 4 of his ribs, his jaw, his shin, his left orbital bone. They then knocked out the majority of his teeth and ruptured his testicles by hitting them with a wrench. They then removed his pants to cause the maximum damage and chained Byrd by the ankles and attached the other end to Berry’s car and drove three miles down the road. Byrd was fully conscious through this entire ordeal and managed to survive until his body swung out from behind the trunk while doing a sharp turn and his body struck a cement drainage culvert. This ripped off his head and right arm. The men then dumped his body outside a prominent African American cemetery. They were apprehended when authorities found the wrench in the middle of the road which was inscribed with Berry’s name. Not one of the men ever apologized for the brutal murder nor did they show an ounce of remorse or guilt.

Brewer was executed on 21 September, 2011. He was reported to say: “He was a godamn n**ger and I hope his family never recovers. As far as any regrets, no. I have no regrets. No, I’d do it all over again, to tell you the truth.” Brewer was asked by a prison psychiatrist: “Why did you do it?” to which he replied “Go fuck yourself. I’m not afraid to be murdered for doing what’s right. That son of a bitch was a fucking black bastard, and he’s burning the fuck in Hell right now. God is white.”

John King was executed on the 24th of April, 2019. He had repeatedly and unsuccessful tried to appeal his case at both the state level and federal level. John declined any counselling from a chaplain and selected no witnesses. Louvon, Clara and Tiffany were once again there to witness the execution. John was strapped to the gurney and kept his eyes closed. When asked if he had any last words, he uttered: “No.” The first dose of pentobarbital was administered at 6:56PM and John was pronounced dead 12 minutes later.

Berry was sentenced to life imprisonment.

We cover the case of James Byrd Jr. on episode 44 of Morbidology, which is available across all podcast platforms and on YouTube.

“On February 12, 2016, Jaya’s son Marquez was visiting a friend when they were brutally attacked and doused with a pot of boiling hot water while they lay sleeping.

Their attacker has been charged with Aggrevated Battery. You see, Marquez and his friend were attacked simply because of who they love. Marquez suffered severe burns to his face, neck, arms, and back that required skin graft surgeory. I cannot mention the name of his friend to protect the privacy of his family. But I will tell you his burns were so extreme that he is still in an induced coma in intensive care.

Their attacker is the boyfriend of Marquez’s friend’s mother. He didn’t fore warn them and there was no altercation before the incident. They had no idea of the hatred he held in his heart. It was a ruthless attack that no one deserves. After they were burned, their attacker forced them out of the home, showing no remorse. They had to go door to door searching for help. The first doors they knocked on, the tenants would not help them.

The family needs immediate help with medical bills, and the everyday expenses of recovery such as prescription drugs and dressings for the burns.  I and the family will be so grateful for any donation your heart compels you to give.

All donated funds will be used for medical bills, prescriptions, supplies, and everyday expenses such as rent and utilities.  Marquez assisted his mother with home expenses. He had just started a new job, so he doesn’t have work benefits.”

Jewish people have the right to live Jewish lives free from oppression and persecution.

Casting off our culture or religion will not save us from antisemites. It will not solve antisemitism. It will not solve anything. It will only remove from us our cultural and religious heritage and force us to take on aspects of those who have persecuted us, but as even the most assimilated Jews have been subject to antisemitism, even then we would be subject to antisemitism.

Our culture is ours. Our lives are ours. We should not have to debase ourselves or remove each last vestige of Jewishness and Judaism from our lives to receive humane treatment and human dignity.

Gunman yelled, “Go back to your country!” while shooting.

(AP - Bismarck, ND)  A Trump supporter was shot by a man wielding an assault weapon yelling, “Go back to your country!” The victim, Willie “Tex” Johnson, came over from his home in Portland, Oregon, in order to work on the Dakota Access Pipeline and is in critical but stable condition at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Hospital in Bloomington, IL.

The attack appears to be unprovoked, although sources in the prosecutor’s office say that hate crime charges are planned for the suspect, Wahchintonka Jones of Bismarck, who fired multiple rounds in his attack.

It’s not immediately clear where Mr. Johnson’s family is from, but it’s clear he is of non-native extraction.

“He doesn’t even claim Cherokee ancestry - which about 99% of white people claim even though less than 1% have any Cherokee ancestry at all.” said family friend and co-worker, Ed Cochrane, “He’s whiter than the Queen of England. So I think it was a hate crime.”

Witnesses say that Mr. Johnson was coming out of a 7-11 with a bag of pork rinds and a Mountain Dew, and Mr. Jones followed him out of the store. It’s unclear if there was a confrontation inside, but as Johnson started getting into the passenger seat of Cochrane’s truck, Jones pulled out a gun and fired while yelling.

Jones fled the scene, dropping the gun and was found by police walking along the side of the road less than a mile away. He was taken into custody without incident and his public defender is asking for a psych evaluation.

This kind of outreach is important because, as Time reports, hate crimes have been on the rise since election day. Of course, Donald Trump told supporters to “stop it” when he appeared on Sunday night’s 60 Minutes.

The Israeli state’s leniencies towards its citizens who commit racist hate crimes is so pervasive and comprehensive, it begs the question:  does the Israeli government covertly hope to assure the continuation of racist crimes against Palestinians?

While all Palestinians are tried in military court, Israeli’s receive the privilege of trials in the civilian court system.  Additionally, illegal settlers living in the occupied West Bank are granted the legal liberties of the Israeli judicial system, while Palestinians living in the same area legally, are not.  Apart from the blatant unequal treatment of people with different nationalities, this system violates the principle of territoriality, according to which a single system of law must apply to all persons living in the same territory.

The Israeli police and occupation force arrest Palestinian children for the simple purpose of instilling fear into their communities and criminalizing them, but allow Israeli adults who commit racist hate crimes to go unpunished.  Those committing the hate crimes are not the only racist force at play:  the Israeli Police and the Israeli Occupation Force play a paramount role in systemically encouraging hate crimes against Palestinians, and maintaining dis-symmetry in the racial and power dynamics of the legal system that deals with Israelis and Palestinians.

Following a pattern of ongoing hate crimes against Palestinians, four young Israeli extremists invaded a Christian Cemetery in the occupied Jerusalem and defaced 15 gravestones in the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, in the King David Tomb, on Sunday September 29.

The four criminals, who were caught by Israeli Police personnel, are students of a Jewish Yeshiva, and range from 17 – 26 years of age.  Two of the four fanatics, were previously caught by the police for hate crimes against Palestinians.  The same two individuals belong to an extremist group of Israeli settlers, the Hilltop Youth Movement, an organization known for its deep seeded racism and numerous attacks against Palestinian lands and property.

The Israeli state’s leniencies towards its citizens who commit racist hate crimes is so pervasive and comprehensive, it begs the question:  does the Israeli government covertly hope to assure the continuation of racist crimes against Palestinians?

Israel Turns a Blind Eye to its Citizens’ Racist Crimes

B’Tselem, an Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, released a report in 2011 indicating that Israeli Police, the entity responsible for investigating settler violence and hate crimes against Palestinians, do not properly examine claims of violence, nor do they enforce punishment based on Israel penal law.

From September 2000 to the end of 2011, B'Tselem submitted 352 complaints to the Israeli Police, demanding to know if investigations had been opened in cases ranging from gunfire, assault, destruction of property, forcing people off their land, threats, evictions, theft of crops, and torching of fields.

Of the 352 racially charged hate crimes, only 29 resulted in an indictment.  137 files were closed with no measures being taken against anyone involved.  In 80 cases, the police did not open an investigation, primarily because the person injured did not file a formal complaint, though the police are required by law to investigate every time they hear of a suspected crime.  In 16 cases, B'Tselem received no response, one case was still being processed and in five cases, the authorities claimed that the file could not be located.

De-criminalization of Israelis & Criminalization of Palestinians

B’Tselem’s report sheds light on a pattern of Israeli hate crimes against Palestinians going unpunished, time and time again.  Their lack of investigations into violence could simply indicate the Israeli state’s disregard for crime– if it weren’t for the simultaneous criminalization of Palestinians.

Israeli Occupation Force officers perform nightly raids on Palestinians towns and refugee camps, arresting young men and children as young as eleven years old.  The arrests occur randomly, and for no apparent reason, forcing local Palestinians to live in a constant state of fear, even in the dead of night, when they are in the supposed safety of their own homes.

A United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) report published in March 2013, states “For some of the children what follows [the arrest] is a chaotic and frightening scene, in which furniture and windows are broken, accusations and verbal threats are shouted, and family members are forced to stand outside in their nightclothes as the accused child is forcibly removed from the home.” The report goes on to state that confessions are obtained from children through the use of intimidation, threats, and physical violence.

The same report states that an average of two Palestinian children are arrested each day, and 700 children ages 12 to 17 are arrested, interrogated, and detained by Israeli army, police, and security agents each year.  According to Israeli law, Palestinian children may be held in prison for four days without charges, and can be tried as adults starting at the age of 16.  Israeli children, on the other hand, are not tried as adults until the age of 18.

Recent Hate Crimes

The Middle East Media Center reports the following list of recent racial hate crimes committed by Israelis:

On Monday, the Police apprehended two Israeli teenagers, 14 and 16 years of age, on suspicion of being involved in defacing and damaging eight Palestinian cars, near Nabi Saleh Graveyard, in the occupied Jerusalem.

Earlier this week Israelis punctured the tires of 28 Palestinian cars, and wrote racist graffiti in Abu Ghosh.

’Price Tag’ graffiti was also found on the outer walls of a church in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Last month, a Christian Monastery located in the Deir Jamal area between Jerusalem and Ramallah, was attacked by a Molotov cocktail.  Racist graffiti, used by Price Tag extremist Israeli groups, was found on its exterior walls.

In mid-June, a number of extremist settlers wrote racist graffiti on some graves at the Christian Greek Orthodox graveyard in Jaffa.

On Friday June 14 Israeli extremists set ablaze two Palestinian cars in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, in occupied East Jerusalem, and spray painted racist graffiti.

The extremists also wrote racist graffiti on some graves in the Christian Greek Orthodox graveyard in Jaffa and drew the Star of David on a number of graves.

Extremists vandalized the wall of the home Khaled Kaboub, an Arab District Court Judge in Tel Aviv, with graffiti.

There have been hundreds of similar attacks, that included burning and attempting to burn Churches and Mosques throughout Palestine.  In addition to numerous attacks targeting both Islamic and Christian graveyards and places of worship, settlers uproot and burn hundreds of Palestinian trees and flood farmlands with waste-water.

Those attacks are part of ongoing violations targeting Palestinians lands and livelihoods.

Deadnaming: Referring to a trans person by a name they’ve retired.

The term deadnaming comes from the fact that it’s often done to trans people who are dead. Typically their parents along with some political and/or religious group take the opportunity to aggressively misgender them when they can no longer object.

Deadnaming can be intentional, meant to dehumanize and disrespect the trans person. Deadnaming can also be accidental; sometimes you don’t see someone for a while, and you don’t know they’ve changed their name. Not using their current name dehumanizes and disrespects them, regardless.
