LIVE

Our son (9 yrs) harvested this squirrel on the last day of the hunting season. He skinned it, gutted and prepared the meat all by himself. He started the fire, made the spit, and set up his camp. He is mastering his environment. ( let’s see how long this stays up before the young, keyboard gangster living with their parents, flags this as adult content. 4th time posting this. The children are understanding how powerful they can be as young individuals. A good friend of ours is great at empowering individuals with life-saving skills and we were fortunate enough to work alongside him on our latest family affair. Together, we learned about how and when to apply CPR. All of us were able to train on adult and infant simulators. We were happily surprised to witness our son, strong enough, able to apply adequate chest compressions on the adult setup. Our little guy felt empowered knowing that he could possibly save the lives of his family members. Our daughter did not quite have the strength for the adults at this time but she was excited about working with the infants. We also learned how to properly use an AED, and the proper way to help one who is choking even if the one choking is yourself and no one else is around. Much of the great insight from our instructor comes from his lengthy personal experience. The lessons in how to apply the techniques we learned and the maintaining of situational awareness was taught in tandem. We were also placed in make-believe scenarios that helped us understand how vulnerable we could be at any given time. This was a great lesson that has brought us closer as a family. We recommend Learning these skills if you don’t already know. Also, If it’s been a while it’s a good excuse to learn it again because there is a difference between the way it is taught today than just few years ago.

I hope our latest post find you doing well

Respectfully,

K

What does a homeschool kid do all day?

We spend some time doing one-on-one work on paper and workbooks, but most of the time he’s living life by playing, exploring, and helping us. It turns out these are great ways to learn.

Back to school shopping, homeschool edition! Judas Jr. has an eye for colour. Apparently they still make Lisa Frank and he locked eyes on the most amazing dolphin notebook, but it was 3x as much for ½ the paper so we went frugal. I let him get the “fancy” pencils though. I’m thinking of using the snazzy notebooks as an incentive to fill up these ones.

The pencils have happy pink poops and general weirdo iconography. What a time to be alive.

Hitting the trails again at Hartley! Small Friend likes going over the damn bridge.

We kept going while he was in day camp. Liebling’s fat bike is really sweet, I can see why they’ve gotten so popular around here. I’m riding his old mountain bike he gave me years ago (I love it and switched back to it after trying a fancy new one) and it’s pretty capable, but I find myself worried about bending rims on the jutting rocks and other obstacles if I beat too hard on the trails.

The Hartley trails are a BLAST. I used to ride in this park when I was a kid (either here or Lester, depending on whih relative I was with) but I think they’ve done a lot more with them since then and now everything is mapped and rated for diffuclty like the ski trails. The whole Nature Center and related school and acitvities is very new. It’s a pretty sweet place. I brought Jr. here for a parent/child reading group for a while before we took the plunge with day camp.

Judas Jr. started a week of summer day camp at Hartley Nature Center yesterday. He had a blast and that night we grilled venison and hotdogs and had a fire in the yard with smores. Since we homeschool this was a good way for him to have time with oher kids but without the drawbacks (including massive time sink) of traditional school. Everything is nature-based and interactive with a lot of outside time.

He’s never been away from both of us before and I felt extremely anxious about leaving him with what is essentially a stranger. He’s never even had a babysitter, instead we’ve coordinated work schedules so he always had one of us and I stayed home with him for the first several years. So rather than drop him and go, we busied ourselves on the bike trails for the duration of his class. That way we were on the grounds if he needed us. It was really nice and fun for all of us and we even crossing paths a few times while his group did outdoor activities.

We brought his little balance bike/kickbike along and arrived early so he could ride with us beforehand. I can’t praise this style of bike enough. The whole training wheels method is rediculous because kids just learn how to ride a bike with extra wheels. Once those go off they then have to learn balancing from scratch and it makes no sense. On a kickbike it’s a regular two-wheeled bike but without peddles. Kids use their feet to run and push the bike, they glide with their feet up and put them down instinctively when they need to and end up learning how to ride intutively. The also seem a lot more agile and capable racing around dirt, grass, and mud.

How To Learn Korean Online For Free

There are a lot of ways to go about learning how to speak Korean or any language, and some of them can be very expensive. There are $200 language programs on CD Rom or classroom lessons that take up extra time to travel to and from class, on top of the high cost.

But for those of us on a budget with busy schedules,  it may not be feasible to put money into expensive programs or tutors. Adding that to the cost of college tuition or homeschooling curriculum can render it unavailable to many…

My seed in #Tlatelolco.. This place that has witnessed so much grandeur and so much pain.. here our huey tlatoani #Cuauhtemoc was captured.. here hundreds of students were massacred by their own government..here a massive earthquake claimed thousands of lives.. Its beauty endures..

STUDY HACK: How I get things done in 4 hours a day

Hi guys, Lala here! I want to share with you guys how I am able to get things done in 4 hours a day. I know that for some of you the idea seems ridiculous. I thought the same 3 years ago. But I realized that while I would study, I was actually pretending to study because I would actually drift away from my studies and work and end up reading something completely unrelated to what I was supposed to get done.

I would “study” for very long hours and didn’t get even half things done. And what is interesting is the fact I was actually burned out and stressed. About 2 years ago, I came across this article on Quartz called “The 4-hour workday is not a crazy idea”. While this is targeted towards businesses, I said to myself “School is basically work, so why not give it a shot”. And I am not kidding guys, it has helped so much. I actually get more things done, and I am not overworked because studying or working for 4 hours a day leaves me with plenty of time to focus on personal goals and my health. And while university leaves you with a ton of work, I am able to do it following the principles I shared with you above.

If you guys want to know more about the methods that I talked about here, you can find more info below:

Hi, guys! Lala here. We all know the importance of having a morning and night routine, but I haven’t seen a lot of people talking about having a study routine. So I wanted to share mine with you and hopefully you guys can get some value out of it.

Do you have a study routine too or want to share some tips? Share them with me!
