Alright everyone, time to party to our hearts content while we still can before everyone miraculously forgets that the LGBTQA+ community exists along with all of the history and important, controversial discussions that will inevitably leave with it due to it becoming less profitable to advertise during the other 11 months of the year.
There is this girl i met back near the end of October. Ill call her Suu. I met her off of a friend’s discord server. She is really shy when it comes to talking to new people, but she felt really comfy around me. She also has a boyfriend, ill call him Lance. Alot of things happend with me and Suu between the time we met each other and now. We’ve become best friends and basically spend all day together on calls, we live in two different states. She isnt really able to spend that much time with Lance because he lives in France. Ive given her the title of sister, which is not a title i give to others so willingly. I’ve also met Lance, hes really great too, a bit of a numbskull but he has a good heart. Me and him are also good friends. Suu loves talking to me, she loves my company, there have been a few days before where i was too busy to talk to her and when i was able to she tells me how much she missed me. Hell we even sleep on call together. Well… recently it finally snapped in my head that im basically playing third wheel. Somthing else that started to come up…is how… feelings have started emerge…for Suu…..and Lance….romantic feelings….
Just tonight i told her that i needed space and that tonight would be the last time i sleep on call for awhile. And the worst situation came out of this. Shes upset. Thinks she did somthing to upset me. And just….i cant tell her why i need space…idk what to do….shes been in a poly relationship before but…i know for a fact lance dosnt want a poly thing…idk what to do….if i keep my space she will think i hate her. And if i stay close it hurts me.
I gotta say this is all “ alleged ” because from what I heard he threatens any trans person that dares call him out….

He has “ talks ” with trans people acting as if he just wishes to have a “ friendly ” conversation then harasses them..
He takes photos of trans people and uses them for his “ educational ” aka harassment videos and “ parodies ” mocking their looks. I I believe he takes the photos without their permission..
He also invades trans spaces and women’s spaces to make mocking harassy videos…
He also has underlying hints that feminism is making kids trans???? He also comments and likes many comments claiming feminism and the trans community are
“ cults ”
He and his followers are a danger to trans youth and all lgbtq+ youth as a whole.
I think I may have solved a mystery that I didn’t even know was one.
So. In Peter Pan, the novel, this is the first mention of Captain Hook:

“Barbecue” is Long John Silver from Treasure Island. Jas. is short for James, but in “Captain Hook at Eton,” he’s also called Jacobus. The biblical figure Jacob was renamed Israel.
Blackbeard’s historical boatswain, and also a character in Treasure Island, was Israel Hands.
I’m just saying, if I got a hand chopped off and my last name was Hands… I might want to change it.
Many kudos to OP, I’m still processing Captain Hook = Israel Hands. Because of this post, I stumbled upon this 2020 article. It is a fascinating and bittersweet read about Barrie, Stevenson, and the Peter Pan+Treasure Islandconnections.
Now, the letters of JM Barrie to Robert Louis Stevenson – presumed to be lost by several key Barrie biographers for over 70 years - will be published for the first time in a forthcoming book. The letters reveal how ardently the young Barrie both adored and admired Stevenson, who was an older and more established writer. A year into their friendship, which was initiated by Stevenson, Barrie wrote to him: “To be blunt I have discovered (have suspected it for some time) that I love you, and if you had been a woman…” He leaves the sentence unfinished.

Barrie has a real desire to incorporate Stevenson and his affection for Stevenson in his works, he believes. “I think what Barrie is saying is: if I can never meet Stevenson, because he has unfortunately died, then I want to create the opportunity for our characters to meet.

Okay, but in the context of Our Flag Means Death this becomes about two hundred percent funnier for the following reason:
Captain Hook is framed very much as a darker, more bloodthirsty version of the same ‘gentleman pirate’ archetype as Stede. Like, he has the gentlemanly manners, the fine clothes, the fancy quarters, some pretentions to honour…he doesn’t always carry it off quite as well as he intends to, but this is clearly a man trying to present himself in a very specific way, and that way has a surprising amount in common with Stede’s intended presentation.
Now, I am not sayingthat this is Izzy trying very hard to Pygmalion himself into a version of what Ed apparently wants in a partner that is still compatible with the way Izzy himself needs Blackbeard to be…but I’m not notsaying that either.
…what I am also saying is that I want Izzy to be harassed by a crocodile.
Honestly, given how many “Izzy is in the wrong genre of pirate fiction” posts I’ve seen on Tumblr, it would be just his luck to escape a queer romcom only to end up in a children’s book and/or a Disney animated feature.

All things considered, pretty fair youth adaption, for work that was coded/self-censored by the writer. It retains the key line of dialog for instance.
Also, what a world we’re in, where we casually described fict couples, ships if you will, with smoshed up versions of their names.
Melville would spin with mixed emotions. I think he’d cry with joy at the openness and acceptance. But he’d possibly hate what he’d perceive as a real degradation to the english language.
I’ve watched “Wilde”. It was on my to-watch list for a pretty long time, thanks to @xenolinguistics-department ’s Instagram it was there even before I started making different segments for different actors. Be sure, though - I watched it because of Michael Sheen. I’ve seen clips from this movie in so many Ineffable Husbands Human!AU videos… Well, Michael Sheen is twenty-eight years old in that movie and it’s just illegal to be so young, pretty and charming! Have you seen those eyes? (And lips, and buttocks which were shown for the whole screen…) I probably should confess – I have read “The Portrait of Dorian Gray” and I didn’t like it… It felt boring and pretentious. I’ve read some of Oscar Wilde’s short stories (yes, the one about the giant too) and, what’s the most important - “The Importance of Being Earnest” – I’ve seen twice in the theatre and it was great! So, I’m a little familiar with Oscar Wilde’s works, but not a big fan of it. I’ve also seen Stephen Fry for the first time in that movie and I liked his performance a lot. I also wanted to make a note – I don’t know how historically accurate it is, so I’m not going to judge it those grounds. I enjoyed this movie so much! It’s dramatic, it’s romantic, it’s sensual (I was going to write sexy, but this word is just not good enough). I’ve seen so many beautiful naked young men in this movie. A lot of them was Jude Law, but I’m not saying it’s something bad. I cried a few times while watching – a lot of times, when I saw Michael Sheen, during the scene (Spoilers!) when Oscar and Bosie had a meeting in prison and started holding hands through the bars and I definitely cried in the end, which I didn’t expect to be at least slightly happy, however, it was. So, watching queer movies with no particular actors in them.
I’m having a hard time with people online and in real life that are always saying “you dont need to casually mention you’re gay or wear pride pins or flags cuz if people wanna know they will ask.” Like excuse the fuck our of me I didn’t spend 17 years in the closet to have some straight white guy named Josh tell me to tone it down. I haven’t bought a helicopter to write it in the sky…… yet….. so dont try me you fuckin pasty chicken wing.
Does anyone just have those irrational conversations that people drag you into because they think their opinion is an absolute solid fact that’s indisputable but in fact they are fucking idiots? I got drug into a conversation about “gays going to hell” at a bloody maccys. Like no sir we aren’t going to hell a clean 50% of us dug our way up from hell just to get some bloody hot fries and to shitpost the other 50% are absolute angels sent from god to keep the shitposters in line.
