Help us reach 25,000 signatures for Laxmi. Once we hit that number we will do a major press-release showing that there is a groundswell of people who demand justice for her. We are so excited to share this update with all our supporters who helped us secure the first half of the new land. Even as all the construction work continues, we are almost done building one of the pools for our rescued elephants to splash around in at the Field Of Dreams!

We think “Field of Dreams” is the perfect name for our project expanding the elephant sanctuary. Why? One of the first things rescued eles do when they arrive at our sanctuary is lie down and go into a deep sleep. Just look at Mia below! It’s the first time in years that some of these eles have been able to rest on the soft earth without chains. We’re currently building the Field of Dreams with pools and shelters to make it as healing a home as possible, but we need to expedite the process before the monsoons come. In February 2017, 10 week old Mowgli was left orphaned after his mother was electrocuted by high tension wires set up by poachers in the state of #MadhyaPradesh, India. Once rescued and rehabilitated at the #WildlifeSOS #AgraBearRescueCenter, our dedicated team of keepers & vets made sure to provide the much needed TLC and help him recover from his traumatic past!
Today, Mowgli is a far cry from the scrawny little helpless cub he was when he first stepped at our rescue center! Catch his shenanigans as we celebrate his first Rescue Anniversary!

In Motihari, Bihar, India an elephant named Laxmi (not our Laxmi at our rescue center in Mathura) died in extreme pain and horrific isolation after suffering her entire life at the hands of cruel humans. She was illegally captured from the wild, then tortured and allowed to wither away, denied the care that would have saved her life. Such illegal trafficking, neglect, and severe abuse of elephants is intolerable, and a precedent must be set.
It breaks our hearts to know we could not reach her in time, but we believe that she deserves justice — even if she never saw a single day of freedom. Please let the Chief Wildlife Warden of Bihar know that illegal trafficking, neglect, and severe abuse of elephants like Laxmi is intolerable, and a precedent must be set. Demand justice for Laxmi.

Having pictures of myself like this one seems a bit silly sometimes. Seriously, why do I have a picture of myself writing in @sambalatte ? It is incredibly important to me that I make significant contributions during this lifetime of mine. I do all things with love and passion which fuel me when I’m in the lowest and most struggle-filled times. The times of recognition are the ones everyone sees, but believe me that behind all of those moments are struggles, obstacles and uncomfortable growth.
Anyone who knows me knows that my identity is pretty closely tied to my achievements (whether that is good or bad is up for debate). So, I am grateful for placement on this list, not because it highlights me as an individual but because it highlights @thatadoptedgirl and @jandlinspire These two endeavors represent my current contributions, my current work towards achievement and the even greater things to come. If I did all things for myself I would lose motivation. Doing things with the goal of improving lives and bringing light to others is what makes me determined and unstoppable.
