the Harvest Festival is something that everyone in town looks forward to all year…games, rides, contests, good food and friends, ending with a dance. She asked me to go with her and I was only happy to accept. We have been friends for a long time and she is a fun outdoorsy girl who everyone considers to be a bit of a tomboy. Well…more that a bit really. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever seen her wear makeup or a skirt.
When I went to pick her up I was surprised to find…she wasn’t home. Instead there was a very pretty young lady smiling at me. Her hair was up, she was wearing a short, shiny feminine dress and silver strappy heels gleamed on her feet. Her shapely legs shone with a pearlescent sheen. Who is this?
“Hey…” Her smile grew even wider at my confusion. Can it really be?
“Wow!” I blurted out. “Are you…is it really you?”
‘‘Course it is. who else? You should see the look on your face…”
“Wow…you look…like a girl…” Yeah, that was a stupid thing to say.
“In case you’ve forgotten…I AM a girl, idiot.” I deserved that.
“Wow…I…just…wow.” I couldn’t think of anything else to say.
“Well you better get your act together, ‘cause I intend to have fun at the Festival and dance up a storm. And you’re my date. So don’t let me down, or you’ll be sorry…!”
“Wow…just…okay…whatever you say…”
