Oh, it is a beautiful day! The Mother of Pentacles is here to remind us how blessed we are to be alive on this earth. It’s the little things you know? It’s your cozy cup of tea and your favorite slippers or it’s the majestic sand dunes or a snow-capped mountain or a setting sun radiating over wild flowers. The earth is truly a comforting, beautiful, and special place. I am feeling a profound appreciation for the earth today and I encourage you to do the same. Look around you and take it all in. Feel the connection to the mountains, water, animals, trees, and plants that lives deep within your soul. You are of this earth and this earth is of you. Let that feeling empower and humble you, let this knowledge comfort and heal you.
It is also a good day to make sure to take the time for the earthly comforts and joys you prefer today! Personally, I’m going to take extra long drinking my oolong tea this morning and take a hot, candle-lit bath this evening. Enjoy the comforts that come with being in your body, soak it in, and let yourself be filled with gratitude. If you are feeling stressed, it is even more important that you make some time for comfort today. Do something for your body that makes you feel whole and content. This could be a bath or it could be yoga or anything that relaxes and comforts you. The Mother of Pentacles is all about being resourceful and practical in dealing with issues in life so that you can lead a balanced, harmonious life. So deal with your issues efficiently and get back to what matters most to you. Sigh, there is so much to be thankful for. Love and blessings to all.

Sharp sandstone cliffs jutt out into the waves that shape them at Shore Acres park on the Oregon Coast. These are some of my favorite features on the coast, there are so many interesting rock formations in this region!
“Arch of Indian Sands” 16" x 20" oil on hardboard, 2021
The southern Oregon coast is predominated by sheer cliffs, towering sea stacks, and more enormous natural arches than you could shake a stick at. With so many incredible geological features, it’s hard to decide what to paint! I was particularly drawn to this aireal view of the Indian Sands cove, where swirling waves passed through one of these arches into what seemed like another world beyond.
“The In-Pacific Pacific” 16" x 20" oil on linen panel, 2021
Tumultuous seas on the Oregon coast near Seal Rock - the title is borrowed from a phrase Brian Doyle used in his wonderful novel “Mink River”. Most of the time, the Pacific ocean is anything but pacific!
More info about this painting and many others is avaliable on my website, follow the link in my profile to find out more!
“The Cave at Sisters Rocks” 16" x 20" oil on hardboard 2020
Here’s a large seascape I created a few months ago after a summer trip to Oregon’s south coast. The coastline down there is dominated by massive cliffs and sea stacks full of potential for dramatic compositions. This sea cave struck me as particularly poignant with all the reflected light it caught off the surface of the oncoming waves. I reevaluated my handling of that light several times over the last few months, and after repainting a few tiny sections I’m very happy with the result!
