Eliot “Grumpy Marshmallow” Spencer

Bonus, this was after Parker was talking about how she didn’t even remember Eliot’s name the first year.

Poor Eliot. Here he has been, with his family for the last 10+ years for Parker to say she didn’t even remember his name.

But here’s the thing, she may not really have remembered his name but she certainly knew who he was.

He was the one who was there to catch her, before she even knew she’d jump.

You kids stop fighting or we will turn this van around

My favorite thing about this is that everyone Knows™️ what Eliot is capable of, but they tease him anyway because they know it’s safe for them to do so. They know that not only will Eliot never hurt them, but they can safely test that in a way that shows how deeply they trust him to never cause them harm.

It’s like… how do I say this. They poke him with a stick to show him that they know he won’t bite, he isn’t violence incarnate. He’s family, and family gets on each other’s nerves and they tease each other, and they’re showing him he’s family.

Parker first, because she’s the one who runs into danger with glee. Eliot snitchesinformsthe team dad Nate about it, expecting him to reprimand her. Instead, Nate also pokes Eliot. On the surface, it says “you’re our trusted teammate, we get have fun with you.” But on a deeper level, it says “She’s right, you’re not dangerous to us. We trust you, and you’re family.”

Nate and Parker are always very in sinc when it comes to pushing people the right way (it’s The Mastermind in them), and their love language is pushing people in a way that brings them closer, in a way that reveals how close they’ve already gotten.

Because there’s only a handful of people Eliot will let touch his bruises, his most tender spots, and walk away with their hands intact. And those people are all in the room with him.

My other favorite thing about this is how childish it is. They’re like kids in kindergarten, with Parker being a little shit and Eliot telling on her to the teacher Nate. These two, the ones with the darkest pasts and most unspeakable traumas in the crew.

Where else could they have acted like this? We’ve seen Eliot with the men he considers his friends: with them it’s all macho posturing, war stories, serious professionalism, or some combination of all three. He hasn’t been a kid in a long, long time, in a way that’s measured by more than just years.

And Parker, as far as we know, never had anyone for very long. She lost her brother young, was betrayed by those kids who taught her to steal cars, and she was moved around too much in the foster care system to make lasting friends. She would not have been like this with Archie. She even called him “sir.” There was love in that relationship, but not much room for playfulness.

The way that they are with each other, the way that they are with this team, is indescribably precious. When they poke and prod at each other, when they tease Hardison, when all three of them get so deep into fun but impractical plans like the Batcave that Nate and Sophie have to step in, they’re getting a little bit of their childhood back. They’re losing a little bit of the weight they carry. And I’m glad we get to see it.

I can’t believe Eliot was married for over nine years and didn’t notice.

Anyone want to elaborate on that?? Orr??

Eliot Spencer is the king of denial.

He has spent the last eight years after the end of Leverage with Parker and Hardison, have gone on to run a brewpub (that Hardison bought for him), they have a “gigantic house that they all share” (per John Rogers), the food trucks are basically Eliot AND Hardison’s combined babies, is ridiculously domestic with both Hardison and Parker in every scene the share together (the OT3 as well as Hardison + Eliot / Parker + Eliot), is quite hesitant to pursue a relationship (The Double Edged Sword Job) and only “seems happy” (Eliot’s description of Parker’s assessment) (The Hurricane Job) when he is in that other relationship.

Dude is fucking MARRIED in everything but name to Hardison and Parker and does not realize it.

eliot-wolfgirl-spencer:

Think about Eliot FINALLY breaking down and conceeding the annual winter argument of:

“You don’t… you just don’t take coworkers to family holidays, Hardison! That’s… That’s a couplething!”

“Uh, no, it says it right there in the title, fam-uh-ly holidays, see, family. When’s the last time you been back to your apartment to sleep, huh?”

“That’s not-”

“When’s the last time we ate a meal together you didn’t cook?”

“Because if I didn’tthen you’d never-”

How many handknitted sweaters did Nana send over this year, Parker?”

“Three sweaters.”

“Three sweaters. One that fits Parker here just perfect, doesn’t it babe?”

“Mmnnn,snugly.”

“And this one here, doesn’t it just really bring out my, my shoulders, and my waist ‘n stuff and like-”

“Ooooh yeah, very dashing figure. For sure.”

“Except, you see this one here… It’s way too big for Parker, but the shoulders don’t quite line up the same on me, and it’s a lil short right… right here at the waist, and-”

“Comeon, man, she probably just-”

“So we’re basically all living together above in the restaurant we own, you’re cooking all our sit-down meals, and my Nana - who hasn’t even met you - is including you in our annual tradition.”

“Sure sounds like family to me!”

“Mmn. Boom. Thank you mama. Right there.”

Damnit.Hardison.”

“Whatever, man. Talkin’ bout coworkers. What’s wrong with you. We ain’t just been "coworkers” since we chainsawed a hole through Nate’s old apartment wall. Put the damn sweater on and get in the van.“

And they’re almost a full two hours late because even tho he won’t say it Eliot is desperate for this woman to like him. To approve of him. To impress her. For reasons he can’t unpack right now.

So he’s rifling through his ENTIRE closet trying to pick out an outfit that makes him look as small and unassuming and innocent and gentle as possible while somehow still seeming approachable and well-socialized - like when he’s on the grift.

When he comes down, Parker almost says something - taking one look at him and frowning and murmuring to Hardison about how they want to take Eliot to meet Nana, not whatever character he’s apparently come up with in the 73 minutes it took him to get ready - but Hardison stops her.

"Small victories, mama,” he whispers to her and Eliot does one last perimeter check of the locks and security system before leaving for the week. “We’re just shipping him down there, so that’s fine for now. Trust me, we’ll let Nana and The Cousins do all the hard work prying him outta that shell.”

BREAKING NEWS: Man Unaware Relationship Is Right There Whenever He’s Ready

wistfulwatcher:

I love how he tries to argue . He’s really attached to the idea that he’s this tough guy that doesn’t worry incessantly about his family to the point it probably keeps him up at night but damn if he won’t go to his grave rather than ADMIT THIS OUT LOUD and instead choose to grouse and grump like the big angry goose that he is about all this.

Look, bud, your big sister, wife, and husband  Sophie, Parker, and Hardison know damn well that you’re both TOUGH and SENSITIVE AS ALL FUCK and they love you for it so stop trying to pretend you aren’t you big grumpy marshmallow.

Okay maybe he’s making a show of it in the 2nd and 3rd gifs for Breanna and Harry because surely THEY think he’s a tough guy without the marshmallow bits.

Of course, Breanna totally knows and is making a list of extortion material for Eliot with all his soft moments that he thinks that Breanna hasn’t picked up on. She will share that list later with Alec and Alec will be so goddamned proud of his little sister for taking up the mantle of annoying Eliot when he was away.

As for Harry, he’s totally picked up on the fact that Eliot’s a bit soft for his family but to him that makes sense so he would never question it. (Also, he’s not in the habit of questioning the team hitter because, wow that would be stupid.)

Well actually if I were doing a Leverage soulmate au I’d make it one where they’re all actually from different backgrounds so they have different ways of finding out.

Eliot would know from true love’s first kiss. He’s always wondered what if it’s someone he killed. For a decade he remembers their names, the color of their eyes, the last thing each of them said and wonders. In his better moments he hopes he doesn’t find them, because they deserve better.

Parker always wears gloves because it’s a good idea not to leave your fingerprints everywhere when you’re a thief but also because otherwise the moment she touched her soulmate she’d leave a mark on them and they’d leave a mark on her and that’s too much, that’s permanent. She’s happier not knowing. She doesn’t need some “normal person” bringing her down and caging her in and resenting her for not fitting in to their normal boring life.

Hardison sees colors for the first time the moment he meets Eliot but he loves Parker first and spends a sleepless year, sickeningly helpless in love wondering which love he could bear to give up, can you quantify this, can you write a program that tells you the pros and the cons before he finds out that actually they’re both his. And no, he doesn’t inform anyone before he finds out.

just saying, eliot goes over to hardison and parker’s to feed them something decent, and the two are in the middle of a Teach Parker The Ways Of The Geek watch of st:tos. they are on the episode with spock’s parents. there’s the part where sarek and amanda touch fingers, and hardison excitedly tells parker about The Supreme Knowledge of vulcan hand kissing like this is important, mama. eliot tuts at him being like, the fuck that ain’t no kiss, hardison. excuse you??

“i dont know, i think its sweet,” parker says, holding her fingers to hardison who immediately taps his against hers. her gloves are gone for the night because she feels safe at home, and eliot tries desperately not to find meaning that the gloves dont reappear when he enters the room anymore.

“thank you. nice to know some people got sophistication.”

“come on. they’re just” eliot mockingly copies the movement between his two hands before shrugging full body. “that ain’t nothing.”

hardison is of course OFFENDED. he pauses the stream. “and who the hell gave you the authority to decide that?”

“trust me,” eliot says in his smarmy voice he aint been using as much in the last two years, but it comes back to hide the jolt of pain at being reminded of his soul pattern. “i know a thing or two about kisses.”

parker hums, “i think vulcans have sensitive hands.”

hardison is like, “yes! theyre touch telepaths! they are totally macking telepathically.”

“fine, ill give you vulcan magic mumbo gumbo…” eliot probably sounds more like mccoy than he would ever admit. “but what is the ambassador’s wife getting out of it? shes human, right?”

hardison is not gonna let this go. he bodily stands up and stalks over to eliot. from across the island counter dividing kitchen from living room, he holds out his index and middle fingers to eliot.

“intention, eliot. intention matters.”

“im not going to - ”

“afraid im right?”

“just do it, eliot,” parker calls from the couch. “i wanna finish the episode.”

“fine!” he copies hardison’s finger positions and touches the tips against hardison’s like how spock’s parents did in the show. he lets it linger for a bit, feeling stupid, but before he can call it off… hardison presses against him a little harder. barely noticable. then hardison slips his fingers down just a little, the pads tracking down to the first knuckle, the second… before lifting back slow and deliberate back to the starting position. he goes it again, and he has the biggest shiteating grin on his face, fuck, but this time he tracing down to the folded L of where eliot’s index falls to his thumb. hardison tucks his fingers into eliot’s palm for a second before returning up up up to their start. tips against tips.

hardison knows he has won and doesnt need to rub it in anymore than he has sunk his fingers into eliot’s hand. but the moment needs some sort of punctuation, it feels… heavy in a way he doesnt quite get, so hardison says “told you” as he finally pulls back.

eliot tries not to use his training against his crew, tries to not startle them so they can forget he ain’t quite like everyone else, not no more… but it is in less than a blink of an eye that he has got hardison’s palm clutched in his hand.

“uh. eliot?”

eliot’s stomach has dropped and his knees feel like they’re gonna fold under him and there are tears welling in his eyes and… he can only clutch harder. he never… after he saw the lovesick eyes hardison gave parker and the confused but curious looks parker gave back, eliot closed up shop on ever thinking they were his in any way he could claim his love to. but…

“intention,” eliot coughs out in a laugh.

“what?”

“oh,” parker says and she is beside them, silently having tiptoed over which eliot hadnt noticed because he is losing his entire shit. she and eliot make meaningful eye contact. “true love’s first,” she names for eliot and hardison stops trying to pull away. eliot nods in confirmation, shaken, which gets a huge smile from her.

they look to hardison as he sputters out the start of a sentence. he tries again. “i saw my colors on that first job, seeing you. parker came in so quick afterward and it was so dark so, so i never could tell if it was just you, or if your colors slipped into what she gave me, or maybe i imagined seeing the blue of your eyes before she dropped in but…”

hardison turns his hand into eliot’s and holds on.

and hell fucking yes. everything’s coming together. one thing’s missing, though (two things, really).

parker carefully reaches for the wrist of the hand eliot’s got clutching hardison. she carefully removes the wristband hes got there. now with the L of her index and her thumb, she slides a hold over eliot’s wrist knowing without looking she’s spilling a wine stain where they touch. she pulls eliot away from hardison (just for this moment) and to join the him and parker on the other side of the counter.

eliot does look down at the proof of parker’s soul pattern left on them both. hardison does as well, and yeah, okay? tears? they are a'flowing.

“hey eliot,” parker teases, “wanna show me what intentions you got for me?” she wiggles her eyebrows seductively, just to make sure he gets the message.

and when eliot swoops in to press his lips against hers, he knows just what he is finding in the kiss for the first time in his life.

aeternalegacy:

Have you watched the extras on Electric Now? (They’re also on YouTube.)

If you don’t, you miss gems like this where they’re talking about the fact the show is set when it is.

JOHN ROGERS: And that’s why Parker has the line, “Eliot was very concerned.” Because Eliot would have been the one in the big, giant house that they all share where he’s all like, “Man why isn’t she callin’ us, what’s going on?”

**RECORD SCRATCH**

One more time??

littlebigmouse:

Can you imagine, if Archie’s daughter had access to AITA-reddit in 2012, after the Last Dam Job?

AITA for ignoring my father after I found out he has a secret daughter and he disappered on me for days?

I (F, 42) recently visited my father (M, 72) with my husband and daughter. The relationship between me and my father has been a bit strained lately, ever since my mother passed about 6 months ago. Since he’d retired from his job as an accountant a few years ago, he doesn’t really have anything to do. I had been worried he was getting lonely by himself in his old house, and suggested several solutions such as moving closer to me and my family, or even residential care (he uses a cane, and can barely walk at all on bad days) but he always shot me down, telling me he was fine. He’s always been a bit distant, and can be really stubborn, so I didn’t think anything of it, but I live out of state and can’t exactly take care of him like this.

During the recent visit, my daughter, my father and me went for a walk in the neighbourhood, where I raised the topic again. However, we were interrupted, when a strange blond woman (F, early 30s?) bumped into us. My father turned around and called out to her, and asked she return his wallet, my wallet and my daughters candy! She must have pickpocketed us without me noticing, but my father seemed strangely happy about it. I asked whether they knew each other and my father just hooked his arm around the woman, said "That’s my daughter!” and walked off with her. I was too shocked to follow, and by the time I had caught myself I couldn’t find them. We returned to my father’s place and tried to call him several times, but he didn’t pick up. My husband is far more patient than I am, and told me my father would surely be back and that this must be a misunderstanding, but when he still wasn’t back by several hours later, we got worried. We asked around the neighbourhood, but no one had ever seen the blond woman before. We contacted the police but they told us they couldn’t help. The next morning I’d gotten a message from my father, telling me he’d be dealing with some “important family business” for a few days and that we shouldn’t worry about him. I tried calling him again, but couldn’t reach him.

I didn’t know what to do by then, so I started searching through his bedroom and his office. I don’t even know what I was looking for anymore, but after a while I found some hidden compartment behind one of his book shelves, with a box of fake ID’s and newspaper clippings, mostly about robberies all over the world. This on its own wouldn’t be too worrisome, as my father is a an art enthusiast and most of the articles seem to be about art robberies, I’d chalk it up to a weird part of his hobby. But for example one of the newspaper articles is from a french paper about a men dying in a car crash about 10 years ago, which matches one of the fake ID’s. I still don’t know what to think, but there’s clearly more going on. I couldn’t find anything on the woman, however.

By then, my husband suggested we should go home the next day, as the end of our planned stay was coming up anyway and I was clearly shaken. However, the next morning, my father returned, happy and acting as if nothing had happened, and I snapped. I yelled at him about how worried we were, and that I had found his secret stash of ID’s in his office. He got mad in turn, told me that I had no business snooping through his stuff. We said some pretty hurtful things to each other, but in the end he confirmed the woman’s name, and that she was “his daughter”. He told me in no uncertain terms that he would not discuss anything about her, as it wasn’t my business and that we should just “trust him”, but he ensured me that he had never cheated on my mother. I don’t know how he thinks that works, since the woman was clearly younger than me and my brother.

Still fuming I packed up my family and went home.
He tried calling me several times in the following week, but I was so pissed I blocked his number and his facebook. My husband suggested I

should attempt to talk to my father again, and that I should try to calm down and try to salvage the situation, as there was clearly more to the story than we knew. But I have a right to be mad and frankly, since my father is making no effort, I want nothing to do with this mess anymore. Am I overreacting?

Edit: Thank you for the many supportive messages, it feels good to know I wasn’t overreacting. In the end, I informed my brother about the situation, like some of you suggested. He also had no idea what to make of any of this. In the end, however, my father came to visit (unannounced) and we had a long conversation I’m still a bit overwhelmed from.
My father told us he met the woman when she had been a homeless teenager. She tried to rob him, and he caught her and decided to help her out, so over the next few years he gave her financial support. Her recent visit was because she ran into some kind of legal trouble (he remained cagey on what exactly, but assured us the situation was resolved) and reached out to him for help. He said he never told us about her because he knew how it would look if a man like him suddenly came home with a strange child. Our family is fairly wealthy, but at least that would explain all the extra work shifts he used to take on. When we asked why he didn’t put her into foster care, he said that she had had severe behavioural issues back then, and would have just ended up on the street regardless, at least by providing her with money and shelter, he knew she would be fine. There’s still some things I don’t understand and I’m still reeling, but I really hope he’s telling the truth and that he was a misguided philanthrope instead of cheating on my mother. I never would have expected anything like that from him. I still feel like I’m missing something, and he is far from forgiven, but at least some of the situation seems to be resolved.

Edit²: So it has been a while, but I guess you people deserve an update because a lot has happened since then.
Since my father refused to give out any information on the woman, I kind of dropped the subject and our weekly calls, because I was still mad at him from keeping such a big secret. However, since my brother and I both felt like we were missing information, he ended up badgering my father about the woman’s contact information, and my father eventually caved. We managed to contact her, and she essentially confirmed what my father had told me about her. She used to be a homeless orphan until my father caught her pickpocketing. They hadn’t had much contact over the past few years anymore, and he had explicitely forbidden her from interacting with us the entire time they knew each other. I don’t think she felt too comfortable interacting with us, but I felt kind of bad and extended the offer that we could keep in contact… She really didn’t seem like she was lying, and if anything, the whole situation isn’t her fault anyway.

Long story short, we called each other a few times since then, and I ended up asking her about the fake ID’s and some other weird things she mentioned. She went really quiet and said that this was my father’s secret to tell.

Fed up, my brother and I joined forces to get all of the answers out of my father once and for all. It was a very intense conversation, but here is the gist of it:
Apparently, my father was faking being an accountant for our entire lifes. He used to be a successfull international art thief up until about ten years ago, when he “retired from the business” by faking his death in a car accident, which was about the time he found the pickpocketing woman. He let her stay in a warehouse (?!) and trained her up to be his successor as a thief, although my father claims she also got out of that business recently and is now running a restaurant with her boyfriend. My mother never found out about any of this. Also, his cane doubles as some sort of taser, which I found out because my daughter almost zapped herself with it.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought anything like this could be real, and I really hope this is the last surprise in this particular mess. Thank you for your support and all the comments. I’m still mad at my father, but the entire situation has become so absurd I really don’t know what to think anymore.“

This is a crossover scene, two scenes technically, that I wrote a while back, between watching Leverage and The Librarian movies and watching The Librarians show, and polished up for Character Appreciation Week. It is not canon compatible for… reasons. If you’ve seen The Librarians you know why. If not I won’t spoil it. (And if you like Eliot enough to be reading fanfiction about him, you should definitely go watch The Librarians, if only for Jake Stone.) Basically it’s anEliot appreciation piece because… actually I think “because he is Eliot” pretty much covers it. There are vague spoilers for both stories here, but nothing overly specific.

(When the rest of the team is in danger, Eliot needs to use Excalibur to save them.)

Eliot stared at the sword lodged in the stone for a long moment. He was the only one of the team that hadn’t tried, and failed, to pull it out earlier.

“The way I see it,” he said finally “you have a personality, at least with Flynn, so I think you got at least some say in who uses you. It didn’t matter before because only the worthy can wield you. I’m sittin’ here bearin’ my soul to a sword so it’s possible I’m crazier than Parker, but I’m not that crazy. I’m not under the delusion that I’m worthy. But the people I’m goin’ to save are. They’re the worthiest part of me and I need… I need your help gettin’ ‘em back. So please, help me save them, just this once.”

He reached out hesitantly and the sword sprung a few inches into his hand of its own volition.

(Later. Team rescued, disaster averted, ancient mummy re-killed, day saved. So probably quite a bit later.)

As soon as they were back in the library, Eliot removed Excalibur from its scabbard and returned it reverently to the stone. He laid it flat and the sword whipped into the air and landed point don, imbedded in the rock.

“You used Cal?!” Flynn asked, sounding impressed. It took a lot to impress someone who retrieved the Spear of Destiny his first week on the job, and has been doing the job for over a decade.

“One time deal,” he said. He could have sworn he heard Parker snort with laughter, but that was Parker, she sometimes laughed at strange things. “It’s not like I can pull the sword from the stone,” he elaborated. “He just agreed to help me save them.” He nodded over his shoulder at Parker, investigating the real Mona Lisa and seamed suspiciously fixated on its frame, and Hardison, who had already put on the jetpack and glanced sheepishly over at Eliot and Flynn when he realized he had been caught.

“Well, don’t stop on my account,” Flynn said to Hardison. He then spun on his heels to speak to Parker. “You, please do stop on my account. That painting is not to be stolen. Well, technically I suppose it’s already been stolen. I’m sure your thiefly skills are to the task, but are you up to the task of not having your life sapped by its hypnotic gaze?”

“You really don’t get it,” Charlene said. “Sometimes Excalibur fights for other people. You should have seen him when the Spider Triad tried to kidnap Flynn. But no matter how important the job, and we’ve had some doozies, he only lets people he considers worthy actually wield him.”

“Apparently that includes you,” Flynn confirmed.

“That’s… I’m sure there’s a mistake,” Eliot insisted.

“See,” Parker said. She had abandoned her investigation into the real Mona Lisa and bounced over to his side. “I keep telling you we aren’t the only ones who like you.”

“But… you couldn’t draw the sword,” Eliot said. “Neither could Hardison.” Hardison hovered over on the jetpack. Flynn stared at him in amazement.

“Oh that,” Parker said dismissively. “I was gonna steal it. I was gonna give it back,” she added quickly. “One of the good guys now and all. But imagine the bragging rights for the thief who managed to steal the sword from thestone. Unfortunately Excalibur has a pretty unbeatable security system.” She sighed and looked a tiny bit pouty.

“I kinda tried to hack the system,” Hardison admitted. “There’s a pair of Arthur’s gloves a few rows over. I thought I could trick the sword into thinking I was him, like a magic fingerprint scanner. I mean, its Excalibur. That’s like the Holy Grail for anybody who grew up on Monty Python and the… Holy…” he trailed off with an unabashed grin. “That analogy got away from me.”

“That analogy was never yours to begin with,” Eliot pointed out.

“You know what man, you know what I mean,” Hardison insisted. “I mean, it’s freakin’ Excalibur. How was I supposed to resist at least tryin to hack the system? How’d you do it? Get it to like you or whatever?”

“I didn’t. I’m not. I just asked it… him… for help. Felt like a damn fool talkin’ to a sword but apparently I convince him that the mission was more important than whether or not I was worthy.”

Parker looked between the sword and Eliot, cocking her head to one side in thought. “That’s why you’re worthy,” she said. “Because it wasn’t about you. It was about saving people. And not just this time. In general. And that is what the sword likes.”

“I’m no King Arthur,” Eliot said.

“King Arthur, or Arturus as the name is often rendered in Latin,” Flynn said, “there is a lot of fascinating debate over that actually, the name commonly rendered Arthur may derive from either a Roman or a Welsh name. According to the eighteen eighty-two version of the Historia Brittonum…” he must have noticed their eyes glazing over because he reigned in some of the heavy flights of academia, “anyway, he took over much of Britain at the direction of a magician and a sword. He also tried to have his wife burned at the stake for adultery, which was a huge double standard was given that he had a kid with his half-sister. All of which is to say, it’s probably for the best that you aren’t King Arthur, because most of us probably wouldn’t be very happy with him if he were to suddenly turn up.”

“The man’s got a point,” Hardison said.

“I thought King Arthur brought peace to England,” Parker said.

“He did,” Eliot said. “But that is just a ‘winner writes the history’ way of sayin’ he swept through killin’ people until everybody left decided it was better to go along with what he said.” He frowned, considering whether perhaps he had more in common with King Arthur than he had at first thought, and not liking the idea one bit.

“The sword must judge by some other criteria then,” Hardison said. “I mean, technically we did sort of help take over that country that time, but not all of us are worthy, and I don’t think Flynn has taken over any countries. Have you?”

“I’vestoppeda few people from taking over countries, but I have never actually taken one over myself. You have?” Flynn asked.

“We didn’t take it over, we stole it. And gave it back,” Eliot said. “That’s kinda what we do.”

“You’re trying to distract us,” Parker said, poking Eliot in the shoulder. “Because you don’t think the sword will accept you, but you know we aren’t going to let it drop until you try again.”

“You aren’t?” Eliot asked. He thought for sure he had gotten them off on enough of a different track for them to let it go. He knew he wasn’t worthy of the sword. He didn’t need or want proof of it.

“No. We aren’t.” She took one arm and half dragged Eliot back over to the stone. Hardison followed along in the jetpack and Flynn trailed on foot.

“Don’t you want to know?” Flynn asked, in a tone that suggested that anyone not wanting to know, about anything, was entire incomprehensible.

Eliot sighed. “Fine. All of the rest of you tried,” he pointed out. “If it’ll get y’all off my back.”

He reached out and seized the sword’s hilt and drew it smoothly from the stone. He almost dropped it in surprise.

Hardison and Parker don’t get married. Well, not in the usual sense of the word. Like everything they do, it is slightly illegal and highly unusual.

Hardison asked. He took her night repelling at the Eiffel Tower and popped the question (with a stolen ring of course, because he pays attention.) She said yes while trying to untangle Hardison from his ropes.

Parker had already watched Sophie planning her wedding and decided that it was like Sophie’s obsession with shoes; fine for other people but not something she could understand or wanted to do herself. Uninterested in planning a wedding of her own, Parker stole one. Well, technically it wasn’t a wedding. She stole a marriage license from a mark. From Hardison’s research before the job she knew the mark was getting a divorce anyway, so she figured he didn’t need it anyway.

She handed Hardison the data she retrieved from the office.

“You know how you asked me to marry you? Well, I got us a marriage license. That makes us married, right?” She handed him the license and he choked on his orange soda.

Hardison had Parker call Nate and Sophie. He was glad, if a little disoriented, to be so suddenly married but he definitely didn’t want to be the one to break it to Sophie that she wouldn't be able to help plan the wedding. He also hacked the county records to make it, well, legal wasn’t exactly the right word, but semi-official at least.

Nate and Sophie flew in for a very impromptu reception which consisted of just the five of them and a cake Eliot made.

From that point on they were married. Sure, it wasn’t technically legally binding, but neither of them held to the letter of the law anyway so that didn’t matter. And sure, their marriage license didn’t have their names on it, but neither did their driver’s licenses so neither of them were inclined to quibble over that particular detail.

For their honeymoon they planned and carried out a heist to steal themselves wedding rings.
