I have gotten some messages from followers asking how they can help support racial justice in these times.
This is a great compilation of resources for getting started. If you go to college, your campus may have its own groups you can join, or even start your own! Consider bringing a friend. Converting others can have a HUGE effect. Volunteering to help with voter registration events for POC is another great thing to do. Also remember to VOTE! Racial justice really is a political fight sadly enough. It truly us verses racism and white supremacy. If we band together, we will be able to flip even huge red states like Texas blue for good and help set out country on the right path for more diverse leadership!
Lastly, I should remind you that if you are white, it is important to remember that even as an ally, this movement is not yours and to respect POC’s voices in their spaces. It is so heartwarming to see the explosive growth of racial justice. BLACK LIVES MATTER!
It’s a bit sad when I consider that one of the kindest things humanity could do for the earth and all the things existing on earth, would be to develop virtual reality to the point that humans no long need to act upon and harm the earth to achieve all of the freedoms, experiences and luxuries we so desperately seek. I picture the Matrix, but instead of the outerworld being dreadfully decayed and infested with mechanical design, it is green and flourishing with life.
Question is, how many resources would be required to devise of , build and power such a matrix? Think it could be possible and sustainable?
Just think, if you work hard, take on massive student loan debts, and crawl on the backs of countless others, you too can live in luxury (maybe, probably not, and if not, clearly you are a failure at life). /sarcasm

Large demonstration in Sana'a in Yemen against the war of the Saudi-led coalition that has caused one of the worst humanitarian crises of the century. After over 7 years of war, nearly 380,000 Yemenis have died and 23 million have suffered from hunger.

Já discutimos em artigos anteriores neste site sobre a indústria do entretenimento estar promovendo e normalizando o conceito de um estado policial, aos olhos dos jovens, em vídeos de música pop. Um estado policial é um estado no qual o governo exerce controles rígidos e repressivos sobre a vida social, econômica e política da população. Um estado policial tipicamente apresenta elementos de totalitarismo e controle social e, geralmente, há pouca ou nenhuma distinção entre a lei e o exercício do poder político pelo executivo. A população de um estado policial experimenta restrições em seu direito de ir e vir, em sua liberdade de se expressar ou comunicar opiniões políticas, ou outras visões, que são sujeitas a um controle rígido policial; e o controle político pode ser exercido por meio de uma força de uma polícia secreta que opera fora dos limites normalmente impostos pela constituição de um Estado.
O estado policial é um das principais agendas para o governo totalitário que a Elite pretende implantar em um futuro próximo. Aos poucos, essa agenda vem sendo preenchida, e suas características vêm ganhado forma nos acontecimentos diários. O pesadelo distópico descrito no romance “1984” de George Orwell tem silenciosamente se revelado em forma de projetos de lei, sistemas de monitoramento, SOPA, PIPA, CISPA, Lei Marcial e blá, blá, blá… Os últimos protestos civis ao redor do mundo, como na Turquia, por exemplo, estão cada vez mais sendo atendidos com a polícia anti-motim; e violência, repressão, prisões brutais e armas sofisticadas estão sendo usadas com cada vez menos contenção, tornando-se na verdade uma norma.
Os protestos dos últimos dias em São Paulo podem se enquadrar perfeitamente dentro desse contexto, pois eles puderam oferecer ao Brasil uma doce amostra da Agenda do Estado Policial da Elite. Estudantes e trabalhadores que protestaram contra o aumento das passagens de ônibus bloqueando avenidas da cidade foram duramente reprimidos pela Polícia Militar, alvejados com tiros de borracha, bombas de gás lacrimogêneo etc. A PM prendeu centenas de pessoas no ato e as levaram para a delegacia em vans montadas justamente com o fim de recolher as pessoas e prendê-las. Até mesmo os jornalistas dos grandes órgãos de imprensa foram reprimidos com balas de borracha no rosto ou outro tipo de agressão.

Há depoimentos ainda de pessoas que não estavam participando do ato e
foram alvejadas dentro do apartamento. Será que foi apenas um erro de mira?
A questão então é: por que a polícia alvejou, quase que descontroladamente uma população de estudantes e trabalhadores desarmada, até mesmo a imprensa, sendo que é altamente notório que protesto não é crime e ainda se faz um direito assegurando pelos documentos legislativos? A função da polícia ali não seria apenas acompanhar o protesto para que ninguém se “machucasse”? Por que a Avenida Paulista pode ser bloqueada para se protestar contra a “homofobia” e tantos outros tópicos, mas não pode ser palco de protesto contra as medidas do governo? Por que você acha então que a polícia tentou impedir o protesto de forma tão violenta? Resposta: Porque o maior medo de um governo é uma revolta civil de grandes proporções. Mas não é só isso. Uma polícia altamente repressora está dentro dos planos dos donos do mundo para os próximos anos.
O governo então formulou seu contra-ataque de forma imediata: Uma boa parcela da mídia brasileira, sua geralmente amiga, não perdeu tempo e começou a mostrar depoimentos de vários policiais afirmando que foram primeiramente agredidos com pedradas, obviamente para poder então justificar suas atitudes de repressão e mostrar para os telespectadores que aquilo não foi um protesto e sim uma “bagunça” ou um “ato de vandalismo”. Foi exatamente com esses termos que os jornalistas mais importantes do país descreveram a manifestação. Há dezenas de depoimentos de PM que dizem que grupo queria ‘caos’ e pedia 'morte’ em ato em SP. Se você vasculhar os sites de notícias, dificilmente encontrará aquelas com um discurso a favor dos manifestantes. Os telespectadores provavelmente, após assistirem aos jornais mais populares, disseram: “Eu sou a favor de manifestos, mas não a essa bagunça que estão fazendo em SP”.
De fato, houve “bagunça” e “vandalismo” por parte dos manifestantes sim. Não estou dizendo que sou a favor do caos. No entanto, o que muitos talvez não percebem é que certos protestos pacíficos são muitas vezes propositalmente sabotados por agentes pagos que incitam a violência, a fim de “legitimar” a repressão policial. Será que a violência e o vandalismo nos atos em São Paulo não foram provocados por esses agentes?
Ordem à partir do Caos
Quando uma manifestação de grandes proporções acontece (ou quando a elite fabrica a manifestação), é possível que ela a use a seu próprio favor. O lema Ordo Ad Chao, que significa “Ordem à partir do Caos”, é bastante comum nesse tipo de contexto. De tempos em tempos, situações caóticas são “permitidas” - se não totalmente fabricadas - pela elite, a fim de criar medo, pânico e revolta entre a população geral. As massas desesperadas, em seguida, pedem aos governantes por uma intervenção e uma solução rápida. O resultado dessas intervenções é quase inequivocamente o mesmo: a introdução de regras e regulamentos prejudicando o cidadão comum, dando mais poderes (antidemocráticos) para a elite.
Nos dias que se seguem, todos os meios de comunicação constantemente lembram a população dessa situação particular. Esse martelar constante torna a situação insuportável por parte da população, que não aguenta mais ouvir sobre isso continuamente na televisão e ler sobre isso nos jornais e na internet. Depois de um tempo, o telespectador vai querer apenas uma coisa: que isso acabe logo. Depois que o problema se arrasta por muito tempo, os meios de comunicação apresentam uma ou várias soluções. Não compreendendo plenamente essa solução, mas cansada e aborrecida, a maioria das pessoas pensa: “Bem, se isso é o que é preciso para que eles calem a boca e falem de outra coisa, então eu concordo.” Será que o governo brasileiro está usando os protestos em SP para a adoção de políticas específicas que, previsivelmente, irão contra os interesses do público em geral?
Ou será ainda que os protestos em São Paulo estão sendo fabricados pelo próprio governo, além da confusão? Talvez seja verdade, e esse caos pode servir exatamente para que a classe dominante promova algumas de suas agendas. Os vários dias seguidos de noticiários na televisão de policiais afirmando terem sido agredidos por manifestantes, e os jornalistas mais influentes descrevendo o protesto como um ato de vandalismo podem ainda servir para uma outra agenda importante: a aceitação, e até mesmo as boas-vindas ao estado policial. As pessoas podem se acostumar com esse tipo de tratamento por parte da polícia. Cada dia adicional de tumulto que a televisão transmite faz com que o cidadão com menos senso crítico torne-se cada vez mais favorável ao uso de medidas drásticas por parte do governo, dizendo: “É isso mesmo que eles têm que fazer para acabar com essa bagunça!”.
Contra ou a Favor?
Se os protestos em São Paulo trarão algum resultado positivo para a população manifestante, eu não sei. Também, ser “a favor” ou “contra” os protestos é um debate praticamente irrelevante. A coisa mais importante a considerar é o rescaldo e as mudanças que afetarão nossas nações para os próximos anos. Os protestos em SP estão servindo o interesse de alguém? Será que foi uma manobra política para justificar a repressão? Será que esses protestos poderão fazer a elite dominante querer justificar mais controle da população? Eles estão acostumando os nossos olhos com o estado policial?
Não se surpreenda se, em um futuro próximo, você encontrar a notícia de agentes sendo contratados para incitar violência aparecer no noticiário. Violência justifica a repressão. Em outras palavras, a elite precisa da violência para fazer suas políticas aceitáveis. Então, cuidado com esses protestos! Mais alguns dias de “confusão” e a população estará pronta para concordar com o governo usando táticas normalmente utilizadas em países opressivos do terceiro mundo. Pelo menos é sabido que essa é uma de suas agendas.
In the weeks since the Thai military took power in a coup d’etat, poet Krit Lualamai has been responding to upheavals through drawings and poems. Born in Jombeung, in the Ratchaburi province of central Thailand, Lualamai has published one book of poetry, The End of Their, in 2007.
Some of the images, such as “Tank,” satirize the acceptance of the military’s putsch (the eighteenth attempted since 1932). “Mission Impossible!” speaks to the futility of protest felt by some Thai writers and artists. “Flute to cheer on the coup,” and “Big poet,” prod other writers’ support of the Army’s take-over. “Three Figures of Thai Society” chastises the viewer to consider the legacy of these well-known activists and revolutionaries.
Also included here is one of Lualamai’s poems, “Mission to Imagine,” translated by Puckpan Tipayamontri in 2012.
When you say “All Lives Matter” when I say “Black Lives Matter” it sounds like your saying “Black lives don’t matter as much.” And are things to condescend and minigate the importance of our message. And if “All Lives Matter” then “Black Lives” are included and you should be just as mad and heartbroken and standing with us.
When you say “White lives matter too.” when I say “Black Lives Matter” It sounds like you are saying “White lives matter more then black lives.” And it makes me feel like you see me as a traitor of my race for defending another. I akwoldge I have white privlage but at least I can use it to help anyway I can.
When you say “They are all just thugs who are looting and setting things on fire.” when I say “Black Lives Matter" you are only choosing to focus on the handful of the most radical and misguided of those involved and willfully ignoring the peacful protesrs who are using their voice instead of their hands. .
Those are crimes and that is wrong, But the only casualty were things, items, objects that could be replaced and profit, no one was harmed. Murdering unarmed indaviduals based on skin color and suspicion and brutallizing peaceful protesters is arguably much worse. They WERE harmed while not committing any crime other then speaking out and going about their day. Even if they did do something wrong, you should be arrested lawfully and investigated. Not murdered.
When you say “Blue Lives Matter” when I say “Black Lives Matter” it sounds like you are saying “Police matter more and should not be held accountable when they cross a line or take a life unjustly.”
Police know when they signed up that they put their lives on the line everyday to protect and serve others. They knew that there would be a chance they could get hurt or die to protect the community. Black people did not sign up to be black or be killed for doing everyday things or to be asssumed guilty and suspicious wherever they go or whatever they are doing. You can take off a uniform. You cant take off your skin.
When I say “ Black Lives Matter” I am merely stating a truthful fact. If you deny the truth or try to divert it, you are part of the problom, I’m trying be part of the solution.
Chills. I can’t imagine my own high school showing up like this less than a decade ago to protest disgusting legislation like Florida’s Don’t Say Gay bill. The support Gen Z shows for the LGBTQ community is breathtaking.
The fight goes on. Keep it up.
I think you all need to know the consequences of this brave action.
The kid who started the walkout at the original school was indefinitely suspended, even though he had permission for the demonstration (their excuse is that he got permission for the walkout, but not for the little Pride flags he handed out). Other participating kids at other schools have similarly been punished.
Teachers who supported students walking out are also being punished, fired, blacklisted from working at other schools.
Homophobic kids are ratting out their fellow students and teachers for supporting the walkout to get them in trouble with school administrations.
The consequences are continuing.
So yes, applaud this - this is great, and it’s brave, and it’s inspiring. But be aware of what the reaction has been.
I agree that we do need to be aware of the reaction but like… why do you think we are talking about it being so chillingly brave? My heart stops every time I see people doing stuff like this, not because I am scared of their protest, but because I know the risks they are facing to do so, I know or can guess the possible consequences, I know what would have happened as OP said even a decade ago. Do you think everyone (anyone) sees this and goes “this was only done because there would be no consequences”? Where do you think we think the bravery stems from?
Bravery isn’t just about doing the right thing when others are doing the wrong thing or doing the right thing only when there are no consequences for doing so, nor is it only about being scared and doing something anyway. That “being scared” part? There is something legitimately there to be scared of- the consequences. And bravery in this instance is being scared of exactly that reaction and then doing it anyway because it is right. Bravery in this instance is a large group of people saying “I know this will likely hurt me, but I cannot let them hurt others without protest.”
I may not have heard the exact details of this particular situation, but it’s not hard to guess in general what they’ve faced to do this. And their protest is great, and brave, and inspiring because of what the reaction might have and has been, not in spite of it.
I’m writing this today on behalf of a coalition of over 80 people and growing, called Not1More, deeply affected by the recent events at University of California Santa Barbara. As I’m sure you’ve heard, on May 23rd, a young man named Elliott Rodger murdered six people and injured seventeen before killing himself, after his bitterness over his virginity came to a head.
We are organizing a national demonstration for June 28th, and taking direct action against the cultural standards of misogyny and male entitlement that allowed this horrible incident to take place. We feel that we must take a stand. This man’s beliefs and actions were unacceptable, but also stemming from direct messages in our media; and as citizens of the United States, we are responsible to remind people that our social norms are created by us, and can be destroyed by us too.
