This 1989 movie by a young Peter Jackson is very bizarre. It’s like a parody of The Muppets. It has music, heartbreak, betrayal, bdsm, threesomes, fur ball murder, a fly that eats shit out of the toilet like one would eat chili, stds, binge eating, and racist flashbacks.
It’s truly bizarre. Would I watch it again just to scrunch my nose at it?

I love Miss Piggy. I know that’s probably a lame thing to admit, but I don’t care. I think she’s really funny! I love how ego-centric, selfish and self-important she is and how bitchy and bossy she is to Kermit – or as she calls him: Kermie.

To say i’ve been inactive is a total understatement, so sorry! There are many many reasons, one being my graphics tablet finally died and I don’t have the funds to replace it and another being that i’ve been super busy.
I created my first public puppet show! And amazingly performed it in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. ‘Plague’ was an exploration of the great Plague of London, the whole show appearing from inside an old wooden box. I’m just here to appreciate the tiny puppet sized jumper, who knitted that!? ( my gran once made a crochet babys christening gown for a 1/12 dolls house, it was tiny, she bent pins to make the tiny tiny crochet hook needed for the skinny thread. she did not pass these mad skills on to me)

Summary: Lan Wangji tried to look around, but found that he was immobilized. Not panicking, because he was a powerful cultivator who did not need to panic, Lan Wangji attempted to break the immobilization with his golden core.
Only to realize that his core, while intact, was blocked.
He attempted to move his fingers.
Nothing.
No matter what part of himself Lan Wangji attempted to move or wiggle, he received no response from his body.
Still not panicking, really not at all, Lan Wangji tried to parse what he could see in front of him, without moving his eyes.
There was a shelf that appeared to be almost half the size of Koi Tower in front of him, but before he began not panicking about that, he realized that no. The shelf was not a gigantic piece of furniture. It was Lan Wangji who was abnormally sized.
He had, in fact, gone from standing over two bu high, to measuring perhaps a single chi in length.
He was tiny .

This one is a hoot from the very first sentence. It is fluffy and fun, and features a thirsty Lan Wangji who is so. FRUSTRATED. that his teeny size is preventing him from acting on his thoughts. Heh heh heh.
Lan Wangji is just happy he’s no longer wooden, okay; Wei Wuxian is entirely smitten; Jiang Cheng is shouty and confused; Nie Huaisang has secrets; and I am just along for the ride. Two world collide, herein, and the mashup is greater than the sum of its parts. (And. AND! This charming story was written for my art, for the MDZS RBB, and I’m so honored and delighted and happy about that. I want to share it with everyone.)

Because when a friend comes to you and says: “hey, I need a giant snake puppet for a performance” of course you say yes. The body is made from a velveteen and and a lycra, and “reinforced” with a muslin backing so it wouldn’t stretch poorly when stuffed. The lycra material was also used to back the eyes! I used some foam to structure the head, and some thin plastic to give the inside of the mouth smooth flatness. The fangs were made from polymer clay bake, and painted with a clear lacquer to give them a bit of a shiny “wet look”. The tongue is a bit of pink suede. Although I’ve made a bunch of monsters, they’ve all been made to be “photographic props” basically, and never meant for live action/puppetry. This is my first proper puppet!!! Also,they’ll be using the snake for another performance coming up!

Just a bit more weathering but he’s just about finished, and then FaceBones gets added to the Metalocalypse shadow puppet pile. Can you guess whose next on the gottafinishthisfuckingthing block? He’s pretty fucking giant. He hates dentists. He’s drank bleach. He makes really bad girlfriend choices. Oh and he held a political office once.
I went to the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance exhibit at the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts today!! I took WAY more photos than will fit into a single post, so I’ll be dividing them up throughout the week. First up is skekGra and urGoh’s puppet show because I am totally biased but also it’s amazing ❤
Fun little things:
-They’re way bigger than you’d think they are! I guess because we’re thinking of them in relation to our own hands rather than larger puppet hands
- You can see where the urSkek flips over into the castle
-The amount of detail even on just these little things is absurd- the Gra puppet in particular has so much more going on than you can see in the show (though curiously yep, no nail)
-SkekGra’s gloves are a textured fabric, not knitted. I refuse to accept this, they’re still knitted in my head
