The street was completed in June Juche 101 (2012).

Situated in the central part of Pyongyang, the street boasts of modern high-rise apartment houses, the People’s Theatre with perfect architectural formative and aesthetic value, service facilities that sustain the utility of both the surface and underground, light- and cozy-looking Children’s Department Store, schools, nursery and kindergarten, all at the foot of Mansu Hill where  the  statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Ilstand.

Kim Jong Un, First Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, First Chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, inspected the Sci-Tech Complex, a yardstick of the Party’s idea of giving importance to science and technology and the Juche-oriented art of architecture in the 21st century.

The complex sprawling over an area of 106.600 square metres is a base for disseminating the achievements in latest science and technology, which will be presented to the Korean people as a gift in the present era of the knowledge-based economy by supreme leader Kim Jong Un, who is realizing the lofty intentions of the great leaders Kim Il SungandKim Jong Il who had ensured that the Grand People’s Study House was built in the 1980s to make all the people study there.

Feasting his eyes with a beaming smile on his face on the complex, which has been built in a magnificent and splendid style on the picturesque Taedong riverside, the supreme leader repeatedly said to himself that it looks really wonderful.

After being briefed on the complex in front of a map showing its bird’s eye view, he looked round its several places to get familiar in detail with construction and preparations for its operation.

The complex can discharge with credit its mission as a comprehensive e-library that stores the sci-tech books that have already been off press as well as achievements in latest science and technology of our country and advanced sci-tech data of different countries throughout the world, he noted, adding that it is a laudable achievement.

He was pleased to say that a building that can accommodate 500 guests, which blends in well with the surroundings of the complex, has also been built splendidly as befits a hotel in such a way as to provide every convenience for visitors.

Noting that he was deeply moved to admiration for the service personnel and people who have cherished creative zeal, indomitable mental strength and burning patriotism while touring the complex for hours, he, on behalf of the WPK, gave thanks to the commanding officers, officials, construction workers and other volunteers who have prepared another excellent gift to be presented to the people by the Party.

Stressing the need to develop the country into a sci-tech power, a talented nation, in order to build on this land a thriving country where all dreams of the people come true, he advanced the tasks and ways for making full preparations for operation.
