(One of my favorite scenes I had to work with. In the draft stage, I had originally debated making Varian more spiteful or full of regret in prison. In the end, I liked the build-up better. Andrew was always going to be manipulative with his…proportion.)

I honestly had so much fun creating this scenario. I imagined that the canon prank fued that we saw in TTS between Eugene & Varian, would continue on into Team Awesome later in the show. Classic older jerk brother move.

A couple months of hard work from three dozen artists, and it’s finished! “Breakaway” is a Tangled/Tangled the Series picture music video multi-artist project that follows the story of Rapunzel and her friends through the canon of the movie and the show. This was a lovely project to work on, and everyone involved was lovely to work with!

The AU ‘Varian and the Seven Kingdoms’ is such a nice extension to the Tangled series. I’ve really enjoyed seeing all the creative ideas people have come up with for this AU! Enjoy this little ditty of mine :)

I honestly can’t believe how similar Varian (Tangled the Series - 2017) and Urchin (The Little Mermaid Series - 1992) are in regards with their story arc! Help these rogue kids!!

My part for the TTS Breakaway PMV MAP! I had a lot of fun working on this!
Season 1
Wither and decay
Rewatching Tangled the Series. Only halfway through Season 2 so far, but I noticed how Cass’s wardrobe is interestingly significant…
- Her handmaiden outfit was too bright and restrictive, it obviously did not suit her as the natural fighter she is. Her brown travelling clothes are so bland it makes her fade in the background, especially when compared to Rapunzel and Eugene’s vibrant clothes. And her Moonstone outfit warped her to the point she’s no longer recognizable as the Cass we know from the first 2 seasons.
- Sure, the black of her armor and sword reflects her role as a fighter that the handmaiden outfit never could. Sure, the bright blue of her hair gives her the vibrancy that her bland brown outfit never did. But it’s simultaneously too brightandtoo dark. There’s no balance to it that it looks like she’s unsure of who she is.
- All that makes her green outfit in the series finale especially more notable. The green is unrestrictive and dark enough it suits her personality, unlike her handmaiden outfit. The green distinguishes her from the other characters that she no longer fades in the background, unlike her travelling outfit. The green matches her eyes, highlights it, and gives her the type of vibrancy that the blue of the Moonstone never could. It’s not too bright nor too dark. It’s perfectly balanced and it looks like she’s found who she’s meant to be.
Lastly, I really missed protective!Cass. It’s why I didn’t enjoy Season 3 quite as much.

Would be cool if the animators intended this. I miss these two.
