Commission!

by woah10spac - 2/5/22

This OC belongs to my new friend @thehitchikerdude! His name is Abyss and he’s a Simic hybrid Monk in a Ravnica campaign. Abyss acts as a bodyguard since his life was saved in the experiment that gave him his fish-like qualities.

I had so much fun with the skin detailing on this picture! Thanks again, @thehitchikerdude!

Prerelease is done

The only cards of slight value I got were Ugin, Kaya, and Domri, all others were fairly pointless. Went 2-2 though, so that’s good. Now to save to get a Bolas for my Grixis commander deck.

Good luck to everyone!

We go to battle! For Ravnica!

Just my opinion, but

But I hate how people are getting mad that Wizards didn’t kill everyone. Is it not enough that they killed a longtime fan favorite (Gids), the likeable rogue type (Dack), and a relatively new if slightly misguided Walker (Domri)? Did you want us to have no named walkers left? Did you want us left with nothing but new characters that we have no attachment to?

Go back to Game of Thrones and leave my fandom alone.

For more context, they’re characters in a D&D game in the Ravnica setting.

And for people who follow my art, yes, he resembles Stabri, it’s intentional.

Magic the Gathering: Sharktocrab v1.00.  D&D 5e Monster Stats
Commissioned by King Kassynder

Technically my first Magic the Gathering commission, though I didn’t put it to a  page until after building the page design for Nicol Bolas.  The Sharktocrab was just such a neat monster to throw together because… well… look at it!  It’s a Shark, Octopus, Crab!

I kept it as a beast mostly because how the card has the Crab, Shark, and Octopus tribes.  So I think that unlike D&D’s owlbear it still deserves to remain a beast rather than a monstrosity (and now you have another fun creature to turn into with Polymorph).

Enjoy terrorizing players in your campaigns with the Sharktocrab!  Perfect for a Simic Creation in Ravnica campaigns, or just as a terror of the deep in other campaigns!

Magic the Gathering: Planeswalkers (Part 2, Ravnican Planeswalkers) v1.00.  D&D 5e Monster Stats
Commissioned by King Kassynder

After a long wait, here’s part 2 of the planeswalkers!  Again, all commissioned by Kassynder (for use in his Ravnica campaign).  All five of the planeswalkers to be found in guilds upon Ravnica (admittedly I’m a little disappointed that each guild didn’t get a planeswalker.  Oh well, I’ll just have to imagine my goblin paladin as the Boros planeswalker).

Bonus: Thopters (To go along with Dovin Baan)

Like the previous ones I’m not entirely sure how balanced they are.  Spellcaster type characters tend to be tricky in that regard.  But at the very least I had fun trying to figure out how to bring their abilities into D&D.

Also these aren’t even the end.  I still have a few more planeswalkers I’ve finished the stats of, to upload at a later date.  (Such as Garruk Wildspeaker, Sarkhan Vol, and Tezzeret).

Here’s tokens:

Here they are, finally!  A big series of commissions done over the past few months for King Kassynder!  Planeswalkers!  I’ve made these stats, and remade them so many times!  The final version I did after reading War of the Spark, feeling like I had a better idea of what planeswalkers and the specific characters could do.

Bonus: Living Land

The living land is a bonus statblock to go with Nissa!  Please enjoy having these planeswalkers (and extra) for your Ravnica campaigns, other MTG games, or just as misc NPCs for your campaigns.

Niemira, Golgari Swarm Advisor

Here is the solution for last week’s puzzle, Tapped Out. If you missed it, you can find it here.

Alright, for this puzzle, the key to solving it is not just figuring out how to tap everything, but when to tap everything. There are many ways you can tap a permanent, but if you don’t tap things in the proper order, tapping the entire field will be impossible.

So how is it done? Let me show you!

  1. Pay UUU to cast Toils of Night and Day targeting both Kior’as Followers. If we don’t tap both Followers at the same time, their untap ability will be quite troublesome to stop. Because Toils of Night and Day is an Arcane spell, we can splice Psychic Puppetry onto it by paying an additional U, targeting Spectral Guardian. This will tap all three creatures. (9U left to spend.)
  2. Since Spectral Guardian is now tapped, lets pay U to activate Icy Manipulator’s ability, tapping down Trinisphere. (8U left)
  3. Pay UU to cast Press for Answers, tapping down Goblin Razerunner’s. Investigate gives us a clue token. (6U left)
  4. Tap the new Clue Token and Clock of Omens to activate the Clock’s ability, untapping Icy Manipulator. Pay U to activate Icy Manipulator one more time tapping down Masako the Humorless. (5U left)
  5. Pay UU  to cast Psychic Puppetry tapping the Levitation. (3U left)
  6. Pay U to cast Rush of Ice tapping down our own Alabaster Kirin. (2U left)
  7. Here’s where things get fun. Move to combat and attack with Bazaar Krovod and Pristine Angel. Krovod’s attack trigger triggers, targeting Pristine Angel. Pristine Angel untaps.
  8. Because Pristine Angel is untapped, it has protection from creatures and artifacts. Meaning that even with Asako out, Pristine Angel can’t be blocked. Because the Angel is unblocked, we use the last of our mana to pay UUB for Throat Slitter’s Ninjutsu ability, swapping the Angel for it.
  9. Throat Slitter deals combat damage to the ruffians, triggering her ability. We’ll have the ability destroy Mossbridge Troll. Mossbridge Troll regenerates, removing all damage from it and tapping itself.
  10. All permanents are now tapped!

Regardless of whether or not the Ruffians decide to block your Bazaar Krovod or not, everything on the field will be tapped. And because we tapped both Kiora’s Followers at the beginning simultaneously, there is nothing they can do to stop you!

The Azorius senate is very pleased with your work. They sent 55 Thopters as reward for solving this puzzle.

Tapped Out
Puzzle #021

Your work for the Azorius Senate on the plane of Ravnica. A local street gang, known as the Ravnica Ruffians, has been neglecting the law and are refusing to pay their taxes. When confronted by Azorius officers about this, the Ruffians responded with hostility!

You have been ordered to detain the situation before things get out of hand. In order to calm everyone down, your job is to tap all permanents on the battlefield (including yours) by the end of your turn.

It is currently your pre-combat main phase and the Ruffians have no lands on the battlefield. Can you figure out a way to control this chaos? Keep in mind the Ruffians have no intention of going along quietly, so you’re going to have to find a way to tap everything so that no matter what the Ruffians do, they can’t stop you!

Think you’ve solved it? The solution can be found here!

Lazav and Seek 2
Puzzle #019

Lazav is back, and he still hasn’t given up on his mission to sneak inside your card collection! This time, he decided to hide inside your collection of tokens from the Return to Ravnica block. Privy to Lazav’s tactics, you managed to once again find a note he left for his fellow Dimir agents that tells them what card he’s hiding as.

In the note, Lazav says the following:
“In order to find me, start with my favorite token, then go up, right, up, right, up, left, up, up, left, left, down, down, right. I’m disguised as the token you end up at. You doknow what my “favorite token” is…right?”

Do you think you can once again figure out where tricky Lazav is hiding?

Think you’ve solved it? The solution can be found here!
