Night
Like darkness, the night signifies the pre-cosmogenic, pre-natal darkness preceding rebirth or initiation and illumination, but it is also chaos; death; madness; disintegration; reversion to the foetal state of the world.
Night is also, according to Hesiod, the ‘Mother of the Gods’, the enveloping, maternal aspect of the feminine power, usually symbolized by a female figure with a star-spangled veil, holding a child, one black (death) and one white (sleep), on either arm; or by the crescent moon, or poppies, or the owl, or black wings.
As all-devouring time, day and night can be depicted as a white and a black rat.

Lizard
A lunar creature; the humid principle; believed to be tongueless and subsist on dew, the lizard was a symbol of silence.
In Egyptian and Greek symbolism, it represented divine wisdom and good fortune and was an attribute of Serapis and Hermes; in Zoroastrianism it was a symbol of Ahriman and evil.
In Christianity it is also evil and the Devil. The lizard is an attribute of Sabazios and usually appears on the hand of Sabazios.
In Roman mythology it was supposed to sleep through the winter and so symbolized death and resurrection. The lizard Tarrotarro is an aboriginal Australian culture hero.

Judgement
Keywords: The spirit of primal fire, wake-up call, unlimited possibilities, realization, spiritual awakening, renewal, reward, rebirth, absolution, blessings, guidance & health. Making a judgement, having a day of reckoning, separating the wheat from the chaff, making an honest appraisal, getting off the fence, using critical faculties, taking a stand & making hard choices. Feeling reborn, awakening to possibilities, transforming, enjoying renewed hope, making a fresh start, seeing everything in a new light & discovering joy. Hearing a call, recognizing your true vocation, feeling inner conviction, feeling an impulse to act, deciding to make a difference, feeling drawn in a new direction, knowing what you must do & answering a need. Finding absolution, feeling cleansed and refreshed, releasing guilts and sorrows, forgiving yourself and others, atoning for past mistakes, unburdening yourself & feeling sins washed away.

It is said that “ to envision the future 100 years forward, we must examine the history 500 years back”. The NASSI pop up takes you through snippets of the history of African peoples, starting from pre colonisation. Here is a taste of the opening experience. The conversations that were occurred among the community after going through this five room installation was moving and a part of our healing process to live into a new future.
