I’ve always been alone in that moment before I go under, into the deep blue that buries me and stays for so damn long sometimes. I’ve always been alone when I felt it bend and bend and finally break and it shattered and splintered and there’s bits of it everywhere and so I’ve always been alone to pick myself back up and put myself together again. I’m never the same as I was before, but I’m always okay. I always know that even if I’m alone that I can carry myself back up from being so low. I’m beginning to realize though that maybe I don’t have to be alone, and that’s okay too.

I love seeing your messy bed-head
Today is National Sleepyhead Day (”unikeonpäivä”) in Finland. The holiday itself has its roots in religion (originating from the legend of the Seven Sleepers of Ephesus), but nowadays it is a rather informal celebration. Traditionally, on this day, “sleepyheads” (people sleeping the longest) were woken up by using water, either by being thrown into the sea or a lake or by having water poured on them. The city of Naantali still observes this tradition as part of their grand sleepyhead festivities.
