Thinking about the angst of liking your best friend since childhood but losing your closeness as tragedy strikes you both.
She loses her sister and you lose your free will. You don’t talk as much anymore out of some sense to protect her, and she starts hanging out with another smart kid instead. It’s for the best.
You notice she’s crushing on the class bad girl (it’s so obvious!) and you hate it. So you want to hate her, but one adventure later, the bad girl comes around to being a good friend. Your first in so long. And it hurts so much more meeting back with your childhood friend only to talk about her.
They’re good people.
They deserve each other.
Unlike you, with your parasite.
……. and yet.
The next adventure comes. Your childhood friend was kidnapped! You go for the rescue, and get split up along the way. You find her. You’re alone.
And your parasite starts infecting her.
You struggle at first. You know the horrors it’s capable of. She’s a sweet and kind girl, she doesn’t deserve to become a monster!
But
The one in control suggests
You and her might be more than friends.
And it’s pushy about being together with her.
And… she’s not fighting back?
……
It’s wrong.
It’swrongbut
You’re not going to be alone anymore! You see her pain and it’s cathartic. She’s going through what you went through. She’s going to understand.
What could bring you closer than this mutual burden? What more could you ask for?
And when her smart friend comes along to ruin it.
There’s only one logical option.
……
She leaves you.
You feel cold.
You don’t see her for the rest of the adventure.
But you know she’s still under the same parasite’s control when she comes to save you last minute.
She’s still connected to you.
And that makes you so
Happy. For the first time in years.
You all ‘wake up.’ She’s still scared. She wants to believe it was all a nightmare.
You won’t let her.
You show her the watch
With a smile
And her hope is crushed.
She won’t be yours.
But she will be with you until the end of this sick game.
rough concept of what i think the thorn ring looks like :>
aside from the fact that noelle spent a good majority of her time being ordered to freeze enemies, and get the freeze ring presumably with force, i think the idea of the thorn ring in particular being agonizing and twisted on helps to represent it as especially serious. it would be painful and wouldn’t be able to be taken off very easily and i feel that amplifies how significant of a situation it is, where she’s inflicting even greater pain and pressure on herself to become stronger
i think i may change the color that i made it, make it more blue/grey rather than teal, but i think this is a good start for what i want to go with

So…I recently attempted the Snowgrave Route…
…just to get the Thorn Ring.
(Listen, when the game teases the fact that one of its fusion options (Twisted Sword) requires an item that can only be naturally obtained by doing the “messed up” route then I kinda had to.
It’s too bad the other item to fuse with (Pure Crystal) will probably only be available in a future chapter unless you hack. But for now…)
Oh boy, I made this back in October. It was when I had recently watch ATLA and when I Learned all of Noelle’s move in Paper Trail, (A deltarune fan comic by @lynxgriffin, please give them credit for their AMAZING work) I wanted to make a drawing of Noelle as the Avatar and is in the Avatar State.
Also I feel like I’m gonna post some old art for awhile

Noelle stopped walking, and it took Kris a second to realize and stop as well. “It’s not up to you to let me do anything.”

Forgot to post chapter 3! Chapter 4 is in the works. It’s twice as long as the other chapters so I’ll need some extra time editing it.
I started this after work, trying something I ever rarely do - paint everything on a single layer, and quick. There’s a lot wrong with it, but a lot right with it too — especially, to me, the blueing of the fingers and lip. She’s cold. She’s so, so cold…
So okay, I was just watching a video on the differences in the different game paths with Berdly and it brought up some questions and ideas for me. So in the deltarune universe do monsters still turn into dust when they die? In undertale it’s a big part of the lore, but in deltarune we have only seen graves, not deaths. So that brings up the question, does Berdly actually ‘die’ in the snowgrave ending? His body is still there in the computer room and intact. It makes me wonder if he is in some sort of ‘fallen down’ state. ‘Falling down’ being when old or hopeless monsters get ill before dying. I say some sort of state because I think that while his body is there, his mind and maybe soul was killed or unable to return from the darkworld before it was sealed, severing his ties to his body. I think the snowgrave players in the next chapter are going to find either a hospitalized or dusted Berdly, after his body starts deteriorating without his mind.
This also brought up some questions for me about how much of the lighteners is actually interacting with the dark world. We see Kris pick up items they carry between worlds, but other than Berdly, no damage is ever talked about outside of the darkworld. Our heros get beaten to a pulp, yet we never hear about pain carrying over, so what is its like a spirit body of sorts or a mental image of themselves. This would explain why Berdly’s body seems fine while still carrying over consequences like his arm being paralyzed and his body being frozen and possibly killed.
