I enjoyed window shopping at the Nakamise Dori shopping street. I try to avoid getting souvenirs when travelling, but I do appreciate and enjoy looking at crafts and other items especially toys… unless I really, really like something.
Got this Canon Selphy printer about 3 years ago but it was only late last year that I actually unboxed it. Today, I printed a few photos to test it.
Aand I are prefer to print our photos. Also, been wanting to create travel collages for the photos, tickets, and other novelty items from the places we’ve visited.
A souvenir program from the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. Take it home and reminisce about the 40 ladies from 40 nations that you saw at the “Women’s Congress of Beauty” or your ride on the original Ferris Wheel.
The fair attracted 27 million visitors and only cost $46 million to construct (about $1.2 billion today).
This seems a bit different from the state fair today. Was deep fried butter on the menu? Probably not.
Designed with artist Rory Hutton, to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
The coronation chair forms the centre of the scarf’s design, as the starting point of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. The martlets and oak leaves which originally decorated the coronation chair represent strength and nobility.
Surrounding the central motif are traditional symbols which are repeated throughout the architecture of Westminster Abbey - including the heraldic lion, the crown, the fleur-de-lis, the Tudor rose, the English rose, the Irish shamrock and the Scottish thistle. (No Welsh leek that I can see though!)
So I bought a lot on my recent holiday to Disneyland Paris. This is mainly the souvenir items. Missing is a jumper and cardigan from the boutique! Along with ears and a bracelet.
