SIMS 4 - Substance Painter Export Settings
This is just one I made that approximates as closely as I can the Sims 4 textures so I can make my Original Objects. I use PBR Roughness/Metallic with Alpha Blending as my base shader which this export converts from. I will likely work on a tut for my process of making my items sometime soon-ish.
Each of the files are listed with an explanation of what they do.
$TextureSet = The name of your item group. This allows you to export multiple groups and work on multiple groups, such as the Solid parts and the Glass of a Table.
_D = Diffuse - This has an alpha channel based on the Opacity Map.
_AO = Ambient Occlusion - If you baked your Ambient Occlusion in Substance, you can export it. I don’t use it much but I prefer having it exported so I can add it to my diffuse as I want it
_C = Curvature Map - This exports the baked curvature map. This is what gives that white lines around the edges like Maxis has.
_S = Specular - This is the Metallic/Roughness converted to a specular. It’s as close as I can get to what Sims 4 uses, but it needs some tweaking in Photoshop to look right. No Alpha channel. I note that EA uses a darkened greyscale diffuse sometimes and others IDK what they use… I tried here
_N = Normal/Bump - It’s already set up for Sims 4. to export into studio as a PNG
How to Install Place the SPEXP file in the following Locations.
Windows : C:\Users\*username*\Documents\Substance 3D Painter\shelf\export-presets
Mac OS : Macintosh > Users > *username* > Documents > Substance 3D Painter > shelf > export-presets[Download]
Pennywise’s wagon
3D model made by me.
I tried to make it as accurate as possible (the measurements are as correct as they can be), although it’s missing some key details and textures. Hopefully I can add the curtains, ropes and tiny lantern later once I have the knowledge how to create them. The clown portrait on the front was created by @alienrat-art and the landscape painting on the inside was created by @andromedadualitas.
Feel free to use my model as a reference for your drawings, please credit me if you do so because I’d love to see the results!
Hold Alt + slide the mouse from left to right to rotate the lighting and watch something appear in the shadows..
3D model by me, work in progress
Don’t go alone into the woods, the wolves aren’t the only one watching you..
A few more screenshots of my Pennywise wagon in the woods. We need an actual game about our favorite clown, involving multiple storylines. Some are children, some are adults. Some won’t make it, some will tell the tale. Going through different eras and seeing IT in different shapes and environments would be a nice prequel game to play. No Losers involved since we already know their story.
Bill’s flashlight
Bill Denbrough’s flashlight used in IT Chapter One. It was also displayed at a horror exposition. Go full screen for the best experience.
Work in progress 3D model Sorry guys, these are not real photos unfortunately..
I’m working on this 3D model of the Pennywise wagon for a long while now, taking breaks now and then because I lose motivation very easily. But now it’s back and I asked two of my favorite artists, @andromedadualitasand@alien-rat , to help me out with some texturing work like the landscape painting on the inside and the clown portrait on the stage door (will be added later). It’s not even near finished, but the process is so much fun!
I can’t wait to finish this wagon one day and see it in Virtual Reality!!
Georgie Denbrough’s walkie talkie used in IT Chapter One. It was only shown very briefly in the movie but ended up in a deleted scene. Go full screen for the best experience and don’t forget to read the text on the back!
