Taz Balance AU where the Reclaimers are constantly wearing graphic tees they’ve owned for upwards of a decade and the Director is Dying. Highlights include:
Madame Director: “And this is my butler, Davenport” All three boys, pointing dramatically at Magnus’s “If found, please return to Davenport” shirt: “EYYYY! :D” (note: there are exactly six copies of that shirt in existence. Davenport has a matching shirt that says “I’m Davenport” He doesn’t wear it anymore)
Carey: “I didn’t know you had a sibling, Taako.” Taako, wearing his third favorite “I’m the cool twin” shirt (the one with glitter but no rhinestones): “What are you talking about I’m an only child”
All three of them show up to training wearing identical shirts with a photo of the entire Starblaster Crew riding a roller coaster screenprinted on the front. Neither rollercoasters nor photography exist on this planet.
The boys try to convince Kravitz that they aren’t death criminals. It’s hindered by the fact that Merle’s shirt says “I’ve had a lot of ideas, and only 50 of them killed me!” with the 0 repeatedly crossed out and replaced with increasingly higher numbers
Somebody wakes Lucretia up in the middle of the night to deal with a crisis and she’s wearing a shirt that says “I Survived the Destruction of my Home Planet and All I Got was this Stupid T-Shirt”. They assume that the staticked out bit is a voidfish joke.
A LOT of The Adventure Zone fanart incoming. I’ve been caught in an art slump since forever, so listening to this wonderful D&D podcast, has really gotten them nasty creative juices flowing and I’m all for it. Here we have les tres horny boys on display.
3 years since the TAZ: B finale and I miss the THB so, I did a little remix of a friends epic drawing (@lazilycoloredtaz on insta). The idea of Merle just having a shirt with horny on the back? Exquisite

guys the TAZ candlenights live show for 2018 was so good

Taako’s strings are held by Lydia and he stands below her in typical late-Victorian garb: a white, ruffled longsleeve shirt and short britches. His large wizard’s hat matches his knee-high boots and his red, knee-length cape stands out nicely against the neon pink spotlight shining upon him. Taako is a slim, lanky elf with deeply tanned skin and blonde hair hanging down, loose, to his waist. He stands with legs shoulder-width apart, one hand clutching his outstretched Umbra Staff and the other raised limply in a spellcasting position. His face is turned upwards to Lydia, away from the viewer, and tears stream down his cheeks.
Merle is still positioned beneath Edward, who holds his strings, despite having been yanked off the ground entirely. Merle is a short dwarf with large, round glasses and dark brown skin, offset by his white hair and full beard which have been pulled into a bun and three twist-braids respectively. His bun is adorned with green leaves, which match his beard ties and heavy boots. These boots also match the bottom half of his two-tone vest, while the top half is a much lighter shade and bears white embroidery along the seams. His minty green shirt pops against dark brown pants. Merle managed to keep a hold on his Extreme Teen Bible, as well, and his Bureau of Balance bracer is visible on his left arm, reflecting a green spotlight from above.
Magnus stands directly between Lydia and Edward, who share his strings, and slightly behind the other two adventurers. Magnus is a tall, beefy man with auburn hair and light brown skin who sports thick hair on his forearms and a scar across one eye. His mouth is bleeding and there is a bruise on his cheek but his expression remains defiant as he stares straight at you (the viewer). He wears a plain, sleeveless brown shirt and cream pants tucked into his dark cloth boots. The boots fold over at the top, revealing a gold trim along the edge. These boots match the gloves on his hands, which are worn over a plain white fabric. The fluffy white trim on his collar is turned yellow by the spotlight above. Magnus holds his arms straight out from his sides with both legs bent at the knee. Railsplitter is visible, still attached to his back by a four-way harness and clasped in the center of his chest with a golden buckle.
The drawing for last week’s Adventure Zone took so long because at first I was just gonna draw this first image, but then I came up with the concept of turning the Tres Horny Boys into pokemon starters so I had to do that too.
I made them all the animal masks they had for Petals to the Metal. So Merle’s an owl, and obviously the Grass-type. Merowl, Highperch, and Flownatruth. While incapable of flight, their close connection with nature has granted them the Fairy typing.
Magnus is the Fire-type. I mean he even has “burn” in his last name. Magnursa, Bearnsides, and Rushesinferno. Their rowdy behavior grants the Fighting typing. They use the whetstone-like features on their chest to sharpen their axe-claws, which they use to fell trees.
And that leaves Taako with the Water-type. I mean, he does have an umbrella. Taakumbra, Swumteevee, and Abracamongoose. They channel mystical energy through their tail, granting them the Psychic typing. They can manipulate the water that collects on their hat.
This was actually a lot of fun to come up with, and good practice for studying the pokemon art style. Definitely gave me a better handle on how they do their shading and whatnot
