ahh spicy sweet potato hummus all you have to do is blend 3 baked sweet potatoes, 1 can of garbanzo beans, 3 cloves of garlic, the juice from 1 lemon, 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp salt, and any other spices of your choosing until smooth. so gooood and without any of the fat and sodium in regular hummus!

pasta with chunky tomato sauce… literally one of the easiest dinners ever! here’s what you need:
-one cup marinara sauce
-one ripe tomato, chopped
-one cup packed spinach
-¼ cup basil
-a pinch of salt and other seasonings of your choice
-one serving of your favorite pasta

1)cook your pasta according to package directions.
2)while the pasta is cooking, heat up the marinara sauce and tomato in a small pot until hot and bubbly (about 4 minutes)
3) stir in the spinach, until wilted (about 2 minutes). add in salt, and chosen seasonings.
4) remove sauce from heat. pour over the pasta and enjoy!

I then pulsed it in my blender until it reached an ice cream-like consistency

I find it kinda weird that I never really liked smoothies until I went vegan! I used to just prefer eating plain fruit, if even that. it honestly makes me laugh when people call veganism too “restrictive" I’ve tried so many more amazing foods and recipes since I went vegan, than I ever could’ve possibly imagined eating animal products

I’ve been really into smoothies recently, and I’ve been drinking them pretty much everyday for breakfast. I didn’t like smoothies too much in the past, as I just preferred eating plain fruit. now I love smoothies so much more! I even got these adorable mason jar mugs for my smoothies. they were only $8 for four of them at big lots! I’ll be updating you guys with all of the great smoothie recipes I try out!

by the way, I’m aware that this is an extremely random assortment of food trust me it’s not weird, I was just thinking of making some wraps this week (hence the lavish bread and veggies). I also wanted to make a bunch of smoothies for breakfast which is why I got the bananas and frozen fruit!

I hope you all had an amazing cruelty free thanksgiving! I know for me, it was very difficult to see an entire dead bird sitting on the table like it was no big deal. people have to be EXTREMELY desensitized in order to feel no emotions whatsoever towards something like that. I also find it extremely hypocritical that we celebrate a day on which many Indians were forced out of their homes and murdered. in fact, thanksgiving is even known as a day of mourning in many Native American cultures. so essentially we are celebrating a day of murder, by promoting even more murder! and the weird thing is I only noticed all of this stuff after going vegan, which further proves how much veganism opens your eyes up to everything going on around you.

ignore my dogs puppy eyes in the background.. she must have wanted these spring rolls as much as i did but seriously these veggie “egg” rolls from whole foods were delish. I would recommend popping them in your toaster instead of microwaving them like suggested, as they will actually turn out crispy this way.

so today I accidentally ate some bread with egg in it it was in my school dining hall, and they usually have signs saying what allergens the foods contain. however, on this sign it didn’t say that the bread contained egg so I ate some. my friend was talking to the lunch lady and she was the one who told her that the bread actually does contain egg. by the time my friend let me know, I had already eaten quite a few pieces. obviously it was extremely frustrating for me, once I realized I had eaten something that wasn’t vegan, but I just need to realize that veganism isn’t about perfection and to just take this as a learning opportunity to always be more careful and double check with my school in the future

also, for many of us here in America, thanksgiving is coming up. this is a great time for friends, family, and simply being thankful for all that we have been given. however, this is also a time of slaughter, exploitation, pain, and suffering. please chose to celebrate your thanksgiving in a way that will make EVERYONE happy, including the animals. I for one went out today to buy my vegan holiday roast from trader joes, and I am wayyy more excited for thanksgiving dinner this year than I have ever been in the past, eating turkey. please chose to spend your holiday the humane way, and go vegan!☺️

for dinner tonight I made some of trader joe’s brown rice and quinoa pasta, topped with tomato basil sauce! It was so delicious, I would definitely recommend this pasta if you don’t eat gluten, or if your looking for an even healthier alternative to regular pasta. it only has 3 ingredients: organic wild brown rice, quinoa, and water. definitely a lot less processed than regular pasta! the only thing I would say is to cook it a bit less than the recommended cooking time on the bag, as it can get overcooked fairly easily. other than that it was amazing! gonna take some leftovers to school for lunch tomorrow

just goes to show that the idea that protein can only be obtained through animal products is completely and utterly wrong. nearly all of us have grown up thinking that the only place to go for protein is meat, milk, and eggs. however, no one told us that it was these same lipoproteins that were clogging our arteries, giving us heart disease, and making us obese! if you’re TRULY conscious about your health you will chose to get your protein the healthy way, through plant based foods. don’t kill innocent animals to get protein that will end up killing you. GO VEGAN
