#weird route
Ralsei: What are all of these frozen bodies doing here?!
Kris: Honestly, not much.
Berdly: What’s up? I’m back.
Kris: I literally saw you die. You died. You were dead.
Berdly: Death is a social construct.

What to call the alternate route in Chapter 2?
(deltarune spoilers)
Unlike Chapter 1, Deltarune’s Chapter 2 has an alternate route that involves finishing off enemies. This was impossible in the first chapter because enemies usually run, but now…
As much as we love the pun, it flew over some people’s head. A few people also pointed out that there is actually a name for the route in the code, which I have confirmed today. (Unlike the “genocide route”, which was never used in Undertale!)
With our preference for canon, we will be using the name:
Weird Route

You have a party member who can literally freeze them in their tracks!
People are calling this the “genocide route”, but that doesn’t really make sense since not all enemies can be killed. Only those you encounter with Noelle can be finished off.
Another name that has been flying around is the “snowgrave route”, but that is a pretty big spoiler!
That’s why we would like people to consider using the “snow mercy route” instead. Not only is it a great pun, but it hints that you need to use snow/ice!
For this blog, we will be tagging and using the name “snow mercy route” to refer to the alternate route in Chapter 2!
tl;dr:
Snow Mercy Route
update:
We will be using “weird route” since it’s used in the game’s code!
rough concept of what i think the thorn ring looks like :>
aside from the fact that noelle spent a good majority of her time being ordered to freeze enemies, and get the freeze ring presumably with force, i think the idea of the thorn ring in particular being agonizing and twisted on helps to represent it as especially serious. it would be painful and wouldn’t be able to be taken off very easily and i feel that amplifies how significant of a situation it is, where she’s inflicting even greater pain and pressure on herself to become stronger
i think i may change the color that i made it, make it more blue/grey rather than teal, but i think this is a good start for what i want to go with
My two cents on the Deltarune Angel’s Heaven theory
Hunch based on the fact that:
1) In the Weird Route, when selling the ThornRing, Spamton addresses either Kris or Noelle as “Angel”
2) According to Ralsei’s prophecy, the heroes’ task, other than sealing the fountains, is to banish the Angel’s Heaven
3) Before his normal fight, Spamton describes “freedom” to Kris, approximatively, as “rising and staring right into Heaven” (and during most of that sentence he’s looking up and straight at the fourth wall)
4) He also says “Are you watching, Heaven?” at the end of his fight if his wires are cut (looking at the fourth wall, again)
My hypothesis is:
The Angel is Kris, Heaven is the Players’ influence on them (and any other character, if the Snowgrave route is chosen). “Angel’s Heaven” can be considered “banished” when one reaches the end of the game and has no more control over its events.
this is how snowgrave went right
…and to some extent, that may include towards us.
They have good reason to generally trust others - Kris grew up in Hometown, which has about 95% good-natured people, and 5% inscrutable assholes, which is much better odds than one gets in human towns.
But this trusting nature has gotten taken advantage of before.
some misc otherwise ominous snowgrave drawings
kind of fucked up how kris has to watch all of this happen huh
