#writing prompt

LIVE

beeschaos:

Calling all deviants! October is right around the corner, and you know what that means:

KINKTOBER

@withlove-sid and I have compiled a calendar to give you some direction in your smut writing this year!

What are the rules? It’s simple! Each day gives you a different kink prompt for inspiration. As for the rest? It’s entirely up to you! You can do every day or pick and choose, take requests from your followers for ships or just create what your muse demands, follow along with the prompts strictly or switch some days out for kinks that are calling to your heart.

This is entirely open to any creative works and fandoms, so please feel free to reblog and use this list as your starting point for all sorts of wonderful works this October! Just make sure to tag your creations with #kinktober2021 so we can all enjoy whatever you come up with!

Happy creating!

(prompts in list format for your copy/paste needs under the cut)

…and hello, lovelies!

With the start of a new month, I thought it would be a good time to introduce some changes to our Twitter activity. While the blog has been wonderful for reaching out to all of you and answering your questions, it doesn’t provide us with much opportunity for back-and-forth and engaging with you during the writing process. Since this is the part of the writing community that I love the most, I knew there had to be a solution!

I know what you’re probably thinking right now:

Oh my gosh, I totally agree! How can I get more of Penney yelling excitedly at me about stories?

That’s so sweet of you! If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re in luck.

If you’re already following us (@plotlinehotline), you’ve probably noticed a slight increase in our Twitter presence as far as retweets and general threads are concerned. You’ve likely also come across the occasional prompts we’ve been posting.

This has been one of my favorite parts about working with our Twitter account for the past month— I’ve always loved working from prompts, and the chance to share those and talk with people about their stories has been amazing!

It has been a little sporadic, though, and with April’s Camp NaNoWriMo coming up, I’d really like to make March a great planning month in terms of prompts and story starters. To this end, I’ll be posting new prompts daily with a different theme (and corresponding hashtag) for each weekday to help spur our creativity and get a few scenes under our belt before the new month starts.

The PLHL’s Daily Prompt List

Miscellaneous Monday— Anything goes! These prompts don’t have a consistent theme to them, but will instead offer different challenges to keep in mind as you’re writing your scene.

Character Trait Tuesday— Tell us about your character! All of these will be related to certain qualities about your character that you can exemplify in your scene.

Workup Wednesday— Practice your planning skills! We’ll be posting a final line for you to consider, and the goal will be writing a scene that builds up to that line.

Theoretical Thursday— Change things up a little! These prompts posit a “What if” scenario that challenges you to look at your story/character from a new angle, offering perspectives that you may not have considered otherwise.

Photo Friday— They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and we want you to write them! Each prompt will consist of a single picture (with no dialogue or writing) that you can use as a basis for the scene you write.

Worldbuilding Weekend— It’s exactly what it sounds like! Each weekend, we’ll ask a new question about your world to help you build and develop the universe your characters live in. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a scene, but should help to get the ball rolling to save you a bit of time later!

I’m very excited to be introducing these prompts, and I’d very much like to hear about what you’ve decided to write and your thoughts on the process. As such, I’ll be regularly monitoring all of the above hashtags, as well as our NaNoWriMo-specific tag (#plhlsuperscribes).

I look forward to talking to all of you! Good luck with your planning, and happy writing!

Love,
Penney

Winter-themed hurt/comfort

- Person A walking home in the cold and being greeted at the door by Person B with a mug of cocoa

- Getting lost in the snow and having to wait for rescue

- Blanket fort

- “Don’t worry. It’s just a cold. I’m fine.” Person B going overboard caring for them anyway, and Person A not hating the extra attention as much as they claim.

- Waking up in the morning with a groan and a “Ugh. Person B, I’m not feeling too great.”

- Warming frozen toes in front of a crackling fire while huddled in an old quilt

- The much bigger Person A wrapping part of their coat around Person B to keep the wind from chilling them

- Warming a blanket in the dryer before wrapping Person A in it

- Hot tea with honey for a sore throat

- Snowbound in a cabin

- Person B buying a ton of Christmas lights because they don’t aggravate Person A’s migraines the way regular lights do

- Exhausted from holiday stress (bonus if someone notices and makes them take a few days off work to rest)

- Warm blanket and an old book since it’s too cold to go outside

eoki-writing:

Prompt from 11/8/20 - And like the raging ocean, my heart could not be contained.

TW: blood, violence, death

Your skin as fair as summer’s breath, those eyes like dew drops; fresh, bright. The shadow you cast in my doorway at night, as you wake me, drag me into the garden to watch the stars fall. Sundresses, secret smiles, the way you punctuate your sentences with your airy laugh.

Every aspect of you was intoxicating.

Being with you was like walking on air, like flying. You understood me. When we touched, it was electric. But being with you wasn’t enough. It was like an addiction, a craving. You always left me wanting more.

I remember that night, as we lay in the grass watching the tumbling stars streak the sky with light. Your lips, soft as anything, brushed my ear as you whispered. You told me about space, of stars and astrophysics, and all the possibilities that lay out in the void above us.

Each word was a sonnet, your voice a symphony, for me and only me. Only me.

But, then, the stars stilled. You yawned, stretched, and made your leave.

And I was left alone, laying in grass that was now cold without your heat. And once again, I was left wanting more. Needing more.

So the next day, when you visited clutching your wicker basket of muffins, I invited you inside for tea. We sat at the table, across from each other. You wore a strawberry-patterned dress, your hair was carelessly tied back. Beautiful. I couldn’t stop myself from gazing at you, seeing you as only I could.

Sunlight glazed your skin as you spoke, golden rays that shone for you.

It was in that moment I knew that I couldn’t be without you.

So I stood, excusing myself to get a drink from the fridge while you continued to talk, your voice a melody I could hear forever. I turned my back on you, reaching for the cutlery drawer. Silver blades glinted at me, as though daring me, taunting me.

The knife was cold in my hand, but your blood was warm.

In the moments when you drew your final breaths I stared down at the knife, at the scarlet slowly staining your strawberry dress.

A pang of regret, sharp and sour.

What had I done…How could I ruin something so pure, and beautiful? For fear you would leave me?

And now you’ll never leave me. Your skin as fair as summer’s breath, and your eyes of dew will haunt me. Your sundresses, and smiles, and airy laugh will forever torment me.

The silence of your absence will be deafening.

Hey guys check out my latest writing project that I’m doing for my university portfolio X

Does your OC have a hidden talent (big or small) that rarely gets talked about or revealed in canon? What is it?

Is your OC afraid of anything common like spiders, snakes, the dark, etc.?

If you had to make a rainbow out of your OCs who would be Red,Orange,Yellow,Green,Blue,Indigo, and Violet?

You can only say one thing about your (current favourite) OC to get someone else interested, what is it?

Who would your OC obsess over or who would your OC be with if there was a happy ending?

Does your OC have something (or someone) they obsess over?

What would your OC’s happy end look like? What kind of life do they dream of living?

Which of your OCs would be most likely to invent the knife-wielding tentacle? What about Stabby the Roomba? Or that one guy’s very first, somewhat useless invention? Or Basically any of the funny, stupid and/or dangerous viral inventions.

Your #1, #50, and #100 songs on Spotify Wrapped are the inspiration for your next OC or plot. What are the titles?

Come up with something on the spot!

In a dire situation, which OC would choose to sacrifice themselves? Which OC would choose to sacrifice someone else?

What would your OC’s ideal gift be?

What is the setting for your OCs like?

Which OC is the unspoken leader who never chose that role but it was chosen for them along the way?
