This is the Eurasian Water Shrew, Neomys fodiens, one of the very few venomous mammals. As its name suggests, it is a great swimmer and is also the smallest mammalian diver. It has been thought that mammals are not able to smell underwater, however, a mechanism has been observed with water shrews in which they exhale air bubbles onto objects and then inhale the bubbles back in through their nose in order to absorb smells.
