“Christmas usually meant family to both you and I,
The cold season brought joy and laughter, but not the way it does now.
Now there are lesser people, and the snow never piles up as high.
And gifts were given still, but even before then, before the carols would begin to chime and echo,
We would start to feel joy from something else, something that happened to only us under that wintery sky.
I shared with you my thoughts, and showed you a glimpse into my heart.
You gave me a few words, and little did you know that they changed me forever.
Since then, you and I became “us” and “we,” neither of us were really ever apart.
And that is how it is now, every year in our December.”
