Torn

He caught it before it was halfway down her cheek. She hadn’t wanted to give it to him, a personal goal to herself failed, fallen through her eyelashes to pool against his finger. She hadn’t made any promises, nothing as hokey as that, but her tears were precious to her, and she hadn’t wanted him to earn them.

The fall of his hand against her had driven her to it, that heavy palm smacking against the soft flesh of her rear again and again. Sometimes hard, but most of the time just fast, the blows raining down on her and drumming out a tattoo that had far too much rhythm to it. Like he was enjoying this. Like he was having the time of his life. 

She wanted to resent it. As much as it made her feel, tapping in deep to her emotions and driving her to that place where everything was just sensation, pure and unadulterated, as much as all of that it didn’t seem fair that he could enjoy it so much. There should be reverence, some sombre mood hanging over him like a Priest administering communion. Something wholesome, not something jovial.

Not that she could see his face. When each stroke started to come in harder, and he repeatedly leant down to plant a kiss on her forehead, or stroke her hair back, she could feel it start to well up inside her. She was fit to burst, and that tear was the very first leak. The first sign that she was struggling to take it, that her bold words and bolder actions weren’t backed up with an iron will.

So he’d caught it, and brought it to his lips. He’d kissed that tear away in full sight of her, and then he’d smiled. She’d been confused, because that wasn’t a sadist’s smile. Not that she questioned that about him, but that smile was entirely reassurance. It was him letting her know that it was okay. That she was okay.

“You’re okay.” There. He’d said it. His hand went to her hair again, brushing it back and cupping her face. 

And the worst part of it all?

That made her feel so much better. Like she could just let go and lose herself to him. Like she was going to do just that. 

He just kept on smiling at her and stroking the side of her face with his thumb.
