AppleTV, Snow Leopard & Wake on WAN

Well there seems to be a great little feature baked into Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, Wake-on-WAN. For those of you who don’t know what this feature is, basically it will wake up your mac wirelessly if another machine needs to access data from it.

Where this is really cool is when you pair it with AppleTV. You used to have to make sure that your computer with all of your music and movies was running 24x7 in order to gaurentee uninterupted access from your AppleTV. But now with Apple’s latest update, 10.6, the AppleTV can just wake up your Mac when it needs something. This is going to be great for the power consumption and the ware and tare of everyones computers.
