Bug ferrets are very expressive, but humans tend to have trouble reading them unless they know what to look for. Feat. Pinkie, the grouchy electrician. 

Bug ferrets don’t have a lot of oral flexibility and prefer to communicate in tactile sign languages. But they’re still pretty noisy and often treat vocalizations as an extension of expression, especially in low-visibility environments. Chuffs are a positive/satisfied noise, barks are angry, growling is an upset/sad noise comparable to crying, and “laughter” is… high pitched squealing. Usually accompanied by frantically drumming their hands on the nearest available surface.
