Newton was developed by Synpet in 1989, the goal was to help people in schools, homes and offices. Newton could walk (locomotion), talk (TTS and voice recognition), play games, handle calls (cordless phone), detect smoke and call emergency services, and play music. Featured an internet modem as well.

Did Newton actually accomplish all of this? Probably not given the technology (and the costs…) but it’s possible that a small subset of it did in closed environments!
