OMG I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS.
A. I think it’s so interesting that the top character (the one with the pointy bits on his head) is credited as the Night’s King. In the world of the books, the Night’s King is like this legendary (but probably real-ish) Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch who married an Other/white walker woman and did unspeakably horrific black magic on her and the Others’ behalf after declaring himself King of the Nightfort. We’ve never heard mention of him in the show. It’s totally possible the writers just thought it was a cool name for the king of the white walkers–we know almost nothing about the Others/white walkers from the books, certainly not that they have a leader/king–but I hope hope hope this means something more! I always thought the Night’s King was the most interesting of the legends from Westeros’s Age of Heroes.
B. In the books, I really think Coldhands is the Night’s King, but they cut him out of the show so it probably doesn’t matter except insofar as this is likely a point where the show will not give us any new info about the books.
C. I guess this confirms dragonsteel and Valyrian steel are one in the same? (Not that we ever doubted that.)
D. Gotta wonder what plans the Night’s King has for Jon.
E. Waiting for the last two episodes is going to be excruciating.
