Never Expect the Roman Inquisition
Before becoming Pope Paul IV, Gian Pietro Carafa was a cardinal. He was able to persuade Pope Paul III to set up a Roman Inquisition, modelled on the Spanish Inquisition with himself as one of the Inquisitors-General. The Papal Bull was promulgated on July 21, 1542.
