On 15 May 1947, USS Sea Robin departed Balboa on a training exercise  around the tip of South America. She was the first US sub to Round Cape Horn. The photographer cought the event on a fairly friendly day with a modest swell. On an ugly day the shot wouldn’t have been near possible. Conditions like this makes life and even basic everyday stuff close to impossible aboard. Just magine cooking here … or taking a leak.
