Eco-Friendly Art Exhibition That Will Act As A Base For Artificial Coral Reef
BVI Art Reef is a project where science, art and philanthropy come together by making use of an abandoned ship from the WWW II to help tackle marine problems.
The giant legendary sea monster called Kraken has been known to instil fear amidst the sailors in the tumultuous sea. But in a collaborative art installation, this mythical beast was put to a good use. A staggering, 80-foot steel Kraken has been placed on top of a decorated WW II ship
and sunk into the Caribbean Sea. The purpose of this piece is to facilitate new coral ecosystem, that will use the Kraken’s body as a base to grow transplanted coral as well as to serve as a cutting-edge education center, for marine research enthusiasts and local students from the British Virgin Islands and its surrounding areas.
