Shinji Kimura who is one of the most talented currently working art directors did a marvelous job with the Ao no Exorcist movie’s backgrounds. The whole movie was glowing with his style. It is easy to notice the Tekkonkinkreet and Kekkai Sensen type of feeling from the backgrounds. I also got a Ogura Hiromasas Ghost in the Shell impression from many parts, which is not too unthinkable, since they both were working under Kobayashi Shichiro during their time in Kobayashi Productions.
