Sy Savane grew up in a different part of Paris, but as a child, she began visiting la Goutte D’Or, an area that acts as a gateway for immigrants from North and West Africa. Today, her label, Mia Dreams, operates out of the neighborhood.
“They always have a story to tell,” she says of her patterns. “Wax in fact is really a cultural mirror where, through the fabric, we tell a story of the society in which we live today.”
