I’ve had a bit of a story with this rock. I was having some serious bad luck with the weather there and actually had to go back two more times during my two months in Iceland and in the end spent a total of five nights just to capture one “amazing sunset”. Somehow I had a picture formed in my head from my first visit and it just couldn’t go away. After my second visit I took it very personally that the weather just wouldn’t cope with me so I decided to go back until I capture something decent.

Now, after more than a year, I actually feel that this first visit, my first impression and the weather then was the best. It wasn’t the “perfect sky”, in fact there wasn’t any sky at all. However, in reality this is how you will be seeing this place most of the time - foggy, dark and wet, and it is amazing just like that. This shot, for me, represents Iceland much more than all these beautiful, colourful photos that one often times stumbles upon. Iceland is spectacular even when it rains and perhaps then it’s even more spectacular.
