The mind is a catchment of emotions with Moon in the 3rd. The thoughts, communication style, and ideas are glossed in a milky moon liquid that other people find quite appealing. Through these eyes, everybody has a brilliant story worth telling and listening to, and hers is especially intriguing due to her complexity and secrecy. Her curiosity and distractive tendencies accompany her emotional temperament, and learning is the elixir that keeps her spirit young and fresh. The manner of interaction with her company and immediate environment directly reflects her current emotional state and sense of security. This can produce a nature that other people may find to be erratic, interesting,  difficult to understand, or all things at the same time. The Moon is the condition of childhood and the mother, so it’s possible for the child to be an avid reader who learns the way of escaping reality or a distressing situation very early. There may be labile opinions or views of the world around her, and she can adopt the beliefs and stories that make her reality easier. The mother may have been an important teacher in her life, possibly a prolific reader or writer that emphasised the importance of education, reading, or passed down many of her own. Early education may have been quite threatening or unsafe, or the another scenario is that school was a place of nurturing and safety. As a child she may have had a strong response to the style or rapport she developed with her teachers, so results may have fluctuated depending on many external variables. It’s also possible that the school environment, exams, or high self-expectation caused a very early onset of fears and anxiety. This may have accompanied a lack of emotional validation, or being told or lead to feel like her feelings didn’t matter or could not be freely expressed. In either expression, the words and opinions of the mother tend to attach deeply and replay through her thoughts or inner monologue as an adult. The inner child is very present in her mind and refuses to be silenced, so the fantasy life or the past can remain very active in day to day reality. This also retains her love of storytelling, ancient myths, ancestral legends, and reading herself to sleep. She may be a brilliant teacher, author, actor, or biographer. 

Moon in the 3rd people respond well to talk therapy and may find that even a quick conversation lifts or relieves a mood. She can also do the same for other people, she can stop tears, diminish fears, and settle someone’s panic attack with her soothing voice and reassurance. There may be an insomniac quality with this placement, as the mind comes alive in the madness of moonlight. Information, knowledge, and good conversation can be as nourishing as fruit and wine. Journaling can become self-reflection in poetry, and her inspiration for writing may stir from the cycles of the moon in the depths of her high and low emotional experiences. The memory is also subject to change depending on her feelings or sense of safety at the time, but yet will rarely forget a conversation, a kind gesture, or a verbal laceration. And while she may appear to be very open, there are also defences hidden within different parts of her mind, so she can be very secretive or obscure about certain subjects or stories. There is a very childlike quality to this intellectual and emotional nature that supplies a good amount of creative talent. But this also accompanies a regressive tendency that can paralyse their response in the time of a bad memory. It can produce the appearance of being younger or less equipped than her ‘normal self,’ during intense scenarios. She may also find it challenging to let go of certain memories or stop her mind from rewinding back into the past.
