The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic - formerly known as Western Sahara (and before that, Spanish Sahara) - is a semi-recognized state claimed in its entirety by Morocco, but in reality largely under the control of the Sahrawis.  The United Nations does not recognize the Sahrawis’ sovereignty, although it is a full member of the African Union, and presumably one day may yet achieve full independence….
