Let’s Face the Music and Dance is part of “the show” which Astaire and Rogers’s characters put on. The number is about two socialites who meet just about to commit suicide. Astaire physically drags Rogers out of depression as she depicts lingering sorrow in her movements. As the dance progresses, Ginger slowly and gradually shows signs of reanimation.
