While the expanse of open space is large and relatively empty, much can happen within the confines of the Silver Millennium. Civilian, military, and pirate ships abound and, if you’re not prepared, you could find yourself in for a wild, dangerous ride. Just remember, the Black can hold unexpected turns. It’s always best to expect the worst.

• The Asteroid Belt: Between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter lies the Asteroid Belt. While the main bodies of the Belt are Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, and Juno, members of the Belt range in size from that of a dwarf planet to a dust particle. While the Belt is relatively thin and spacious, it is also wide and covers a large area. The movement of the asteroids are largely unpredictable, and without the proper equipment, it can be dangerous to traverse. However, it sees heavy traffic as it lies within the middle of the star system planets, and because of this it is maintained by the Space Ranger Program.
• The Kuiper Belt: Beyond the orbit of Neptune lies the Kuiper Belt, at the edge of which lies Pluto. Twenty times as wide and 200 times as massive as the Asteroid Belt, the Kuiper Belt is far more dangerous and unpredictable. Known for being home to pirate outposts, much of the Kuiper Belt remains wild and outside the control of the Silver Millennium and the White Moon. Filled with both asteroids and ship debris, it acts as a graveyard for many. While there are settlements on the larger asteroids in the Belt, these Outer Rim settlements do not receive help or funding from the empire and are regarded as unsafe.
